Michael Aldrich allegedly left the corpse of the family member unrefrigerated and decomposing for days, according to a report.
Aldrich, the operator of the West Funeral Home, was contacted by the family for his services and cremation of the family member in August, local authorities said.
The family then attempted to cancel with Aldrich and locate another funeral home.
They were informed that the cremation service had been completed, the report noted, but, days later, when someone went to pick up the remains, an unsettling discovery was made.
The corpse of the family member had not been cremated and was found badly decomposed and unrefrigerated, the report said.
State law dictates that a corpse must be embalmed, put in a sealed casket, or refrigerated if disposition does not take place within 24 hours.
