No one cares about your classified documents … unless you’re Trump

The Justice Department revealed Monday night that classified documents from President Joe Biden’s vice presidency were found in a Biden-aligned think tank and that a U.S. attorney would be investigating the matter. Apparently, at least 10 documents from Biden’s vice presidential office were found in the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement shortly before the midterm elections.
The least shocking part of the news is that we’re just hearing about it now. Who knows whether it would have had any effect on the results of the midterm elections? What we do know, however, is that Biden’s team will go to great lengths to snuff out any story that could hurt the president and his party. We’ve already seen that one.
CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS FROM BIDEN VICE PRESIDENCY SURFACE AT THINK TANK, SPARKING INQUIRY: REPORT
Moreover, the difference in reactions to news of Biden’s illegal handling of classified documents versus former President Donald Trump’s is remarkable. Trump, who had the presidential authority to declassify whichever documents he wanted, has been subjected to a lengthy DOJ investigation, an FBI raid, and possible criminal prosecution. (To be fair, the FBI raid likely could have been avoided if Trump had voluntarily returned the classified documents to the National Archives as Biden did.) Biden, on the other hand, deserves no blame, according to liberal pundits, because his action was just an honest mistake.
This disparate treatment was one of the primary complaints against the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago in the first place. Plenty of former government officials, including Democrats such as Hillary Clinton, were found to have classified documents in their possession, even though federal law prohibits it. In Clinton’s case, she even went so far as to destroy the private email server in which the documents were found. But she never faced criminal charges, let alone the threat of being permanently barred from seeking office.

Trump, however, does. Leftists can claim that’s because he failed to cooperate with a DOJ subpoena for the classified documents, but it’s obvious that the government is only taking Trump’s breach seriously because he’s Trump. If he had been Clinton or Biden, or even if he had just run with a “D” next to his name on the ballot, there would have been a whole lot more benefit-of-the-doubt to go around.
