I’m actually a little embarrassed about how much I know about Andrew Tate. But in my defense, as some of you already know, I am working on a book about the history of marriage, and at one point, I was considering making Tate the villain of the book’s introduction.

For those of you who know nothing about Tate, you are living an exemplary life, and there is no reason to change that. Tate has been in the news recently, however, after Romanian authorities arrested him on charges of rape and human trafficking. All this happened after an online spat with Greta Thunberg.

A former kickboxer, Tate first gained fame in 2016 when he briefly appeared on the reality show Big Brother but was kicked off after just a week when video surfaced of him striking a female cast member with a belt. Both Tate and the woman claim the exchange was consensual, but Tate got the ax anyway.

Tate did not stay in obscurity for long as he quickly drew a following on TikTok and other social media platforms playing the part of a misogynistic culture warrior. In 2017, he was banned from Twitter, but not TikTok, for saying women should “bear some responsibility” for being raped.

Tate offers teenage boys a cartoon version of hyper masculinity that belittles women at every opportunity. “A lot of the world’s problems could be fixed if women walked around with their body counts on their foreheads,” Tate said in one podcast (bodycount being the number of men a woman has slept with). “Females have no innate responsibility or honor. Girls don’t like responsibility. Women are intrinsically lazy.”

Charming.

Tate did finally get the boot from most other social media platforms (including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook), but not until this August. It does not appear any one post did him in, more a concerted campaign by LGBTQ activists who were concerned about his more homophobic content.

Even during his ban, however, Tate continued to appear on other people’s podcasts, often telling the story about how he and his brother became millionaires by using beautiful women to scam pathetic men online. It is in connection with this “business” venture that his current legal troubles appear to stem.

Tate’s Romanian compound was already raided once this year following a tip from the U.S. Embassy that an American woman was being held at the house against her will. No arrests were made at the time, but Romanian officials said the investigation was ongoing.

I understand why some conservatives may be sympathetic to Tate since he was canceled by pretty much all social media platforms before Elon Musk let him back on Twitter this December. But Tate really is a total scumbag whose values are completely antithetical to conservatism.

Here is what Tate thinks about marriage:

“If you are a man that has his sh*t together, at a certain level of status you can say to a woman, ‘Look I love you I want to be with you I’m going to take care of you but you are not going to tell me what to do. I’m in charge.’”

“If you are a high enough status individual, then you get to get away with more. I have beautiful women who are in love with me and we’re all happy and smiling everyday I get to f*** whatever I want.”

“I’d never get married, no. I don’t see the tactical advantage to getting married. I don’t think one woman is capable of completing a man’s life. Absolutely no … You need multiple women so they can f*** off and do women shit.”

“No man wants to get married. He wants his woman to be loyal. He wants his woman as a wife. He doesn’t want to be a husband. He just wants to do it so she’s less likely to cheat. It’s a degree of insecurity.”

Andrew Tate is not a conservative culture warrior hero. He is the exact opposite. Tate is what happens when feminism wins, marriage is destroyed, and civilization devolves into sexual anarchy.
