Pro-Palestinian campus protesters don’t live in reality

.

I was invited by the University of Kentucky’s Turning Point USA chapter this week to address the atrocities committed by Hamas on Oct. 7 and the explosion of antisemitism that followed in the United States on city streets, in the halls of Congress, and on college campuses.

And, to prove my point, a crowd of fascistic protesters armed with keffiyehs, Palestinian flags, and posters decided to try to shut the event down by leveraging the heckler’s veto: deliberately disrupting an event in order to prevent speech.

After they refused to listen and wait to ask questions, they were eventually removed by police and continued to “protest” outside, with slogans such as “resistance is justified when people are occupied” and “Ian Haworth, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide.” We must note that they mispronounced my surname, which, according to the leftist playbook, is an act of racism. They then channeled their inner Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) and triggered the building’s fire alarms before harassing attendees as they attempted to leave under a police escort.

So, what moment triggered these students? I dared to discuss the live-streamed crimes committed by Hamas: the mass murder, rape, torture, mutilation, kidnapping, and burning alive of Jewish civilians.

And when the reliability of my claims was questioned with the standard one-directional form of denial routinely used by Palestinian activists — screaming “source?” while simultaneously spouting Hamas propaganda as unquestionably accurate — my response was simple: Hamas. Hamas is my source.

I read excerpts from the Hamas charter. I read a WhatsApp message gleefully sent by one Hamas terrorist to his father, recalling the 10 Jews he had just killed with his “own hands.” I spoke of Hamas leaders who have boasted of breeding a culture of death.

All lies, these students will insist. All part of the Zionist conspiracy of which I am, apparently, a part.

Setting aside the horrendous reality faced by Jewish college students who must live and study alongside these ignorant fools who are — accidentally or otherwise — tools of terrorism, there’s a deeper problem here: These people are impossible to reach.

My description of Hamas crimes was entirely uncontroversial — not only provided based on reliable accounts but given in the context of antisemitism in the United States, without delving into the Israeli military’s response (however valid). The furious reaction to it demonstrates the scale of an ideological mental illness festering in the Western world thanks to the unholy alliance of radical Leftism and radical Islam.

This alliance has indoctrinated another generation of activists who are hellbent on the destruction of one country: Israel.

But why? They clearly don’t care about genocide, ethnic cleansing, or apartheid regimes; otherwise, they’d be at least equally critical of groups such as Hamas. Well, the answer is obvious: It’s because they hate Jews.

Now, some students might not even realize this fact. They might legitimately believe they are part of a moral struggle against oppression. But in reality, they are nothing more than useful idiots for those who are motivated solely by their hatred of Jews.

But whether it’s intentional or not, you cannot claim to be on the side of morality when your response to “Hamas committed mass rape on Oct. 7” is to scream, “Resistance is justified.”

And if you’re going to demand that Jews stop defending themselves while accusing them (and me, a British Jew living in the United States) of committing genocide, I’m at least going to have to ask: “Source?”
