Liberal media wonder why media trust is in the toilet and why many people cheer when they are labeled “the enemy of the people.” It would not be hard to understand if they did even the smallest amount of introspection.
Laken Hope Riley was murdered by an illegal immigrant while jogging on the University of Georgia campus. You would not know that from the Associated Press’s coverage, though, which instead focused on “the dangers female runners face.” There is not one single mention that her killer, Jose Antonio Ibarra, was in the country illegally. In fact, the Associated Press even decided to describe Ibarra as an “Athens resident.”
The outlet decided to not just leave out important details but to intentionally mislead readers so as to try and prevent this from becoming a black eye for Democrats on illegal immigration. Therefore, they shoehorned in a narrative about societal sexism, complete with a quote from a “criminal justice” professor lamenting women aren’t allowed to “exist quietly” and who the Associated Press says thinks men should be “taught not to assault women.”
Ah, but the outlet has another example that proves this is all about societal sexism: Mollie Tibbetts, the University of Iowa student killed in 2018. Except Tibbetts was also killed by an illegal immigrant, which the Associated Press of course does not mention.
This all comes on the heels of liberal media outlets brushing under the rug the identities of the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade shooters. Those shooters happened to be black, which is inconvenient for our race-obsessed, identity-driven liberal media to cover. We’ve also known for years now that many of these outlets bury the race of criminals if they are members of favored liberal classes while prominently featuring the race of criminals who happen to be white.

This is why media trust is at historic lows. People know that outlets like the Associated Press are not giving them the full story because they want to push certain identity-based narratives. This skin color or identity-driven coverage is also why people cheer when former President Donald Trump labels the media the “enemy of the people.” They see media outlets pushing narratives to protect Democratic politicians or to inflame racial tensions.
This destructive view of what media should be is shredding media trust and social cohesion, the latter almost certainly intentionally given that these outlets are purposefully making their content political and divisive. The next time a journalist has a fainting spell over Trump’s comments about the media or acts bewildered about the state of trust in media, they should be reminded over and over again that the media are to blame for this state of affairs.
