Conspiracy theories are an unfortunate part of today’s culture, with many people yearning to believe in the unbelievable. In a way, I suppose conspiracies have always been around, but living in the age of social media, they’ve been amplified tremendously. However, no matter the era, they do nothing to benefit society and much to harm it. The most recent example is the ridiculous assertion that Taylor Swift is a government psyop. This claim, and the people peddling such nonsense, are indicative of everything wrong today with American society.
Consider a recent post on X by “influencer” and “political commentator” Benny Johnson.
“By now, everyone knows Taylor Swift is a government psyop and this is exactly why Corporate Media is having a meltdown about it,” Johnson posted.
He then listed several things meant to support his claim’s veracity. But it was just more bogus, baseless, and unsubstantiated nonsense. They were examples that were not grounded in reality yet appealed to certain audiences and riled up the emotions of people more concerned with frivolous, unserious topics at the expense of legitimate concerns threatening the country. Moreover, anyone who advanced this conspiracy theory is nothing more than a fool contributing to the nation’s rapid decline.
Democrats have launched an all-out war on Republicans in the country and have diligently worked to reshape society to fit their extremist left-wing beliefs. President Joe Biden has advanced a cadre of radical judicial nominations that will dictate law for years. DEI Democrats have put forth political and cultural initiatives that attempt to redefine the fabric of our nation, including such things as redefining what a woman is and implementing discriminatory policies that advance people based on race and not merit.
Additionally, today’s children cannot obtain basic proficiency in math, science, and English, teachers are secretly transitioning children in schools, toxic gender ideology is taught as an educational norm, and numerous other legitimate problems negatively affecting the country, and people are being fed nonsense about Taylor Swift.

Johnson wasn’t the only person who advanced this nonsense. Yet everyone who did deserves a denouncement and societal scorn for their lack of gravitas. Such unsubstantiated assertions are the rhetoric of clowns, jokers, court jesters, and unserious people. It’s also the kind of thing that is helping contribute to the dumbing down of America, infecting the population with a dangerous plague of stupidity and foolishness.
However, I believe Americans are better than this. And if we aren’t, we definitely should be — and shame on us for not being so.
