Biden’s doormat diplomacy is unleashing chaos in the Middle East

.

Who would have possibly thought that the United States acting like the world’s doormat would invite chaos and ambitious bad actors to lash out? Evidently, no one in the Biden administration.

Without a hint of self-awareness, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said of the Middle East, “I would argue that we’ve not seen a situation as dangerous as the one we’re facing now across the region since at least 1973 and, arguably, even before that.” This comes after Iranian-backed militants killed three U.S. troops in Jordan.

So why is it that the Middle East is as “dangerous” now as it was in 1973 or earlier? Could it be because Blinken and President Joe Biden thought the best way to deter Iran was to say “don’t” repeatedly, admonishing the country like a misbehaving puppy while Biden gave the Iranians ransom payments? Or how Biden’s team has done nothing as Iranian-backed militias launched more than 150 attacks on American troops in Iraq and Syria since Oct. 7, culminating in this fatal strike in Jordan.

What about the rest of the region? Palestinian terrorists knew they would have the sympathy of Biden (and even more of it from his bleeding heart staff) even if they launched a massive terrorist attack on Israel. Sure enough, Biden is leaning on Israel to draw down its military operations, saying the country must stop before the war lasts one year while saying he will back Ukraine against Russia for as long as it takes.

Biden took the Houthis off of the State Department’s list of foreign terrorist organizations, only to have to acknowledge meekly that they are a terrorist group after several attacks on shipping vessels in the Red Sea. And you may as well throw the botched Afghanistan withdrawal into the equation, in which Biden first rolled over for terrorists, leaving Americans stranded in the hands of the Taliban, which also emboldened Russia to launch its assault on Ukraine.

This is what the doormat diplomacy of Biden and Blinken has brought. Bad actors, whether they be terrorists or expansionist countries, know they can walk all over this administration. Biden’s idea of retribution for when a terrorist killed 13 U.S. service members in Afghanistan during the withdrawal was to drone strike an aid worker and seven children. Now, his administration is leaking its reluctant retaliatory plans for the attack in Jordan while telegraphing to Iran and everyone else that they don’t really want to do anything.

If the situation in the Middle East is “as dangerous” as we’ve seen since 1973, it isn’t something that just happened spontaneously. Biden and Blinken oversaw the deterioration of the region after unprecedented peace deals and progress were made under the Trump administration. Biden and Blinken have allowed terrorists to walk all over them, and the world is now dealing with the consequences.
