The United Nations cannot be fixed or reformed. It is toxic to its core, and it is past time American politicians cut it off entirely.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency has always been a corrupt, pro-terrorist U.N. agency, far outliving its usefulness going back to when it recommended that it abolish itself in 1951. Now, the UNWRA exists to perpetuate a “refugee crisis” among Palestinians who refuse to stop committing terrorism with the goal of eliminating Israel.
In what may be the least surprising news of the past several years, it turns out the UNRWA employed at least 12 people who took part in the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks against Israel that resulted in the slaughter of some 1,200 civilians. Some countries, including the United States, have temporarily halted funding to the organization, but that funding flow will inevitably continue again. Bleeding heart liberals in Europe and the Democratic Party just can’t quit inadvertently funding Palestinian terrorism. Meanwhile, intelligence reports claim about 10% of the agency’s employees have ties to terrorists and Islamic militant groups.
In the meantime, the U.N.’s International Court of Justice indulged South Africa’s antisemitic claims that Israel is committing genocide by ruling that Israel must take “all measures” to limit civilian casualties in Gaza and abide by the Genocide Convention. Israel is already doing those things, but the point is clearly to set the stage to revisit this topic and accuse Israel of genocide at a later date. Much like the UNRWA, the ICJ has been a disaster going back to its earliest days. Surely two corrupt U.N. agencies can be written off as simply a coincidence, right?

That is when you remember that the U.N. Human Rights Council has included a variety of human rights abusers including China, Russia, Somalia, and Libya. Or when you remember that the World Health Organization helped the Chinese Communist Party cover up the severity of COVID-19 before it was loosed on the world. Just about every U.N. agency is corrupt, pro-terrorist, pro-authoritarian, or all of the above. The problem isn’t one or two agencies. The problem is the U.N.
You cannot fix an organization that is as rotten to the core as the U.N. There can be no reforms or negotiations that will solve the fundamental problems of the organization, whether it be its bloated, self-serving bureaucracies or its core feature of empowering authoritarian, anti-freedom countries across the world that are opposed to human rights. The U.N. should be cut off, evicted from New York City, and treated with mockery by American politicians.
