The climate cult does not care how much money their ridiculous demands will cost you, how much worse they will make your life, or how little of an effect they will have. All they know is that they want credit for trying to “save the planet,” and your quality of life is collateral damage.
Chicago is the latest mismanaged, Democrat-run city that wants to ban gas stoves and natural gas in homes. (You know, that thing that Democrats say isn’t happening until they propose and say it is a good thing). Mayor Brandon Johnson is leading the push alongside 15 city council members to force new buildings to use electric instead of natural gas, but Johnson is leaving the door wide open to force this on all buildings moving forward.
One ward alderman wants to tap the brakes on this proposal with a financial impact study, given that this can (and inevitably will) be expanded to all buildings, and the proposal includes no subsidies to help people transition their homes. He also expressed concern that Commonwealth Edison, the largest electric utility in Illinois, would not be able to handle the increased burden.
Sound familiar? These are exactly the concerns that follow California’s decision to force everyone into everything electric, particularly with electric vehicles.

We have seen that California’s grid can’t handle electricity burdens even with a small number of electric vehicles on the roads without relying on “dirty” natural gas. The state is also forcing drivers into less reliable, more expensive cars, trucks, and buses with little to no subsidies in many cases. All of this is for an inferior product that many people would not be choosing if they weren’t being forced to by the government.
The same applies in Chicago, New York, Washington, and Massachusetts, where natural gas bans continue to push forward. Inferior, unreliable electric products are being forced on people in the name of saving the climate, despite the fact that China’s emissions continue to blow past any “progress” small gestures like this make. None of this solves anything. It is only designed to make liberals like Johnson feel far more important than they really are.
