For institutions that charge tens of thousands of dollars each year in tuition and that leave college students significantly in debt under the guise of providing them with a proper education, colleges and universities should not be able to get away with many of the things described as classes on campuses. These range from courses on Taylor Swift to Beyonce and now to the latest left-wing, race-baiting, radical indoctrination being taught at Rice University, a course known as “Afrochemistry: the study of Black-Life matter.”
“Students will apply chemical tools and analysis to understand Black life in the U.S. and students will implement African American sensibilities to analyze chemistry,” a description on Rice University’s website said. “Diverse historical and contemporary scientists, intellectuals, and chemical discoveries will inform personal reflections and proposals for addressing inequities in chemistry and chemical education. This course will be accessible to students from a variety of backgrounds including STEM and non-STEM disciplines. No prior knowledge of chemistry or African American studies is required for engagement in this course.”
This is absolute nonsense and indicative of just how toxic, and now arguably useless, a college education is becoming. This is little more than a 21st-century iteration of Soviet-inspired “Lysenkoism,” an ideologically corrupted version of science created to adhere to left-wing extremist ideological demands in the Soviet Union. There is no such thing as “Afrochemistry” anymore than there is “Eurochemistry” or “Sinochemistry” or whatever racial-pandering, virtue signaling, radical academic extremists come up with next. It’s just chemistry.
However, this is a perfect example of why trust in science has eroded. Today’s extremist DEI Democrats have little interest in facts and truth. Their sole desire is to corrupt anything and everything in society and culture to align with these kinds of extremist, left-wing, sociocultural, ideological values. They have taken, dare I say plagiarized, the playbooks of Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Antonio Gramsci, and Mao Zedong and implemented them worldwide in the 21st century.
Afrochemistry is fake and nothing but a fanatical politicization of science rooted in the cultural hegemony of Gramsci’s “war of position” and “Long March through the institutions.” In the U.S., educational institutions prioritize ideological brainwashing such as “Afrochemistry,” whereas other nations properly educate students with legitimate subjects such as math and science — real math and science. Its existence as a college course at Rice University is meant to legitimize such left-wing indoctrination within the population. It represents everything wrong with college education in this country and it is why our nation’s education system has drastically fallen behind the rest of the world.
A few years ago, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a common refrain from Democrats was “trust the science.” Yet, the “science” was corrupted and molded specifically to adhere to the Left’s ideological interpretations and try to force submission and compliance within the population. Only a few short years later, we have witnessed an evolution from “trust the science” to “corrupt the science” to align with the Left’s fascination with blending racial grievances and science.
But, as any intelligent and educated person really knows, there is no such thing as “Afrochemistry.”
