President Joe Biden continues to look at the terrible ideas that are wreaking havoc on California’s cost of living and people’s jobs and decides he wants to force them on the entire country.
Biden’s Labor Department announced it would be classifying drivers for ride-share companies such as Uber and Lyft as employees instead of contractors, copying California’s terrible law known as AB5. The law forced independent contractors up and down the state to become employees, against their wishes, leading to several being forced out of their jobs. California Democrats had to carve up the law with exemptions for various industries because it was a disastrous, one-size-fits-all solution to a problem that never existed.

Biden naturally wants to bring this to the rest of the country. He nominated former California Labor Secretary Julie Su, a supporter of that destructive California law, to serve in the same role in his administration. Biden has kept Su as the acting labor secretary even though he knows she would not be confirmed by the Senate because even some Democrats oppose her. Now, Biden and Su are bringing California’s terrible freelancer law national bit by bit.
Biden and Su believe they should be able to decide when, how, and where you are allowed to work. They think they know what is best for everyone, as do Su’s fellow California Democrats who imposed this law on freelancers in the first place. They want to force people out of the job arrangements they have chosen and into ones they do not want as a gift to labor unions, because Biden and his Labor Department care more about them than they do about people who just want to make a living.
