Voters believe media bias is worse than ever

The establishment media are not a fair, balanced, or objective source of information. This is not any groundbreaking or shocking revelation, as it has been known for years.
The “regular” television networks ABC, CBS, and NBC have all spent years, if not decades, pushing stories that align with, if not outright promote, a left-wing political and ideological agenda. Cable networks such as CNN and MSNBC have been just as bad, if not worse. It’s a phenomenon that conservatives and Republicans, approximately half of the country’s audience, have been complaining about for quite some time.

But now, hopefully, people are starting to see the light, as voters feel that media bias is “worse than ever.” A recent poll by Rasmussen revealed that “60% of likely voters believe the problem of bias in the news media is getting worse.” This was an increase from “56% who said so in March.” Given the political climate and the presidential election in 2024, these percentages will likely continue to increase as such bias is expected to get worse as the media provide de facto support for President Joe Biden against the Republican nominee, especially if that nominee is former President Donald Trump.

An example of this perceived bias by voters has been the media’s coverage and reporting of the controversies and legal woes of the president’s son, Hunter Biden. According to Rasmussen, 51% felt that the media haven’t “given the story enough coverage.” Such sentiments make sense, especially when compared to how the media covered Trump and his family’s “controversies” when he was in office. Not to mention that the media tried to discredit and hide the original news story about Hunter Biden’s laptop during the 2020 presidential election news cycle.
Political opinion shows aside, the legacy media’s job is to provide the people with honest news coverage. They are supposed to give viewers the news so voters can make informed decisions on matters. However, today’s media seem more interested in being the arbiter of what stories people hear about and creating news than just reporting it.
