The despicable crusade against children being able to live normal lives in the name of COVID safetyism continues even now. School districts are once again imposing mask mandates on children in defiance of science and basic human empathy.

Public school students in Philadelphia will be forcibly masked for 10 days when they return from their winter break in January. Passaic, New Jersey, is also going to begin forcibly masking children again, right after teachers finishing their grand holiday party with no masks in sight.

STUDENTS SUFFER LARGEST LEARNING LOSS IN 30 YEARS AFTER PANDEMIC SCHOOL CLOSURES

All of this is not just pointless. It is gross. It is incomprehensibly cruel. Even if you lived under a rock for the entire pandemic, you would know that children are not at serious risk from COVID and never have been. You would know that masking children isn’t going to protect them, nor will it protect anyone else more than a vaccination would. There is no justification for forcibly masking children again. Yet they are doing it anyway.

There is no definitive evidence that mask mandates even work to prevent the transmission of COVID. On the other hand, there is ample evidence that any and all restrictions on children in schools or any other area of life are “obsolete,” in the words of Dr. Monica Gandhi, an infectious disease specialist and Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. And yet the ghouls who make decisions for schools in Philadelphia and Passaic are punishing children anyway, for what? To make some hypochondriac liberals feel better?

It has been 33 months since the pandemic began in the U.S., and approximately 32 months since it became clear that children were never at serious risk from the virus. But the cruelty is the point. The decision makers in places like Philadelphia and Passaic think that, since children cannot meaningfully object to the restrictions being placed on them, they matter less. These bureaucrats and politicians can throw restrictions at them, the group that is most safe from COVID, and use that to show their safety-obsessed base that they are “doing something” about COVID.

This is why there can be no “pandemic amnesty.” The normalization of the callous restrictions being placed on children is a direct result of bureaucrats insisting that “the Science” demanded full lockdowns in every area of life, including on children. The politicization of COVID means that politicians, even now, are posturing with COVID restrictions and targeting children, who have no political power to respond. It is despicable.
