It is 2023, and the phrase “Christmas tree” is still too offensive and triggering for the Democrats in Philadelphia’s government.

While we live in an era with Democratic political leaders expressing a cultlike devotion and rampant commitment to “inclusion,” the left-wing government officials who control the city purposely excluded the name Christmas from its annual tree lighting ceremony last week. Instead, the city referred to it as a “holiday tree” in press releases and advertising that promoted the event. But there’s no such thing as a “holiday tree.”

BIDEN’S WAR ON FAITH AND FAMILY CONTINUES

The outright refusal to acknowledge the obvious is simultaneously comical and insulting. Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows what a Christmas tree is and its prominence during this time of year. There is no reason not to refer to it as a Christmas tree other than the irrational, poisoned, and toxic banalities of the Christophobic tenets of left-wing political orthodoxy. That’s the impetus for this messaging. Simply put, they don’t care about demeaning or offending Christians.

Under the guise of diversity, equity, and inclusion, Philadelphia’s Democrats have purged “Christmas” from Christmas trees. And while the Left’s disdain for the holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ is well-known, the City of Brotherly Love seems to be alone in its rebranding. Other cities with Democratic strongholds in city governments use the correct terms in their city’s celebrations. New York City calls its event a Christmas tree lighting. So does the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. Another bastion of left-wing city government dominance, Chicago, also appears to call it a Christmas tree lighting.

It’s an absurd left-wing cultural assault on something that is apolitical and shouldn’t cause controversy or political tension. However, Philly’s decision to call it a “holiday tree” raises red concerns and many red flags. Perhaps the largest one is why such things seem only to happen to the country’s Christians.

As ridiculous as the “holiday tree” name is, similar things have happened nationwide, but seemingly only to Christians. There haven’t been any mainstream efforts to rename relics associated with holidays in Judaism or Islam. For example, no Democrats, in Philadelphia or other cities, have moved to call the lighting of the multibranched candelabra during Hanukkah the “holiday menorah.” There aren’t any left-wing politicians striving to rename any Islamic symbols or customs for Ramadan.

Furthermore, the attack on Christmas is indicative of the Left’s desire to redefine, reshape, and recreate the country’s culture. To accomplish that, they weaponize Christophobia to normalize taking Christmas out of the country’s December customs. So, each year, with each Christian holiday, the Left tries slowly to chip away at the nation’s customs, slowly pushing the envelope to see how much they can get away with.

Despite the Left’s desperate and wayward attempts to change the culture, the coniferous evergreen that millions of people decorate in December will never be widely known or accepted as a “holiday tree.” It was, is, and always will be a Christmas tree, no matter how badly the warped, indoctrinated minds of Democrats in the country want it to change. It will be challenging, but ultimately, “Christmas trees” will survive, and Christmas will endure.
