Thursday night’s debate between Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Patrick Bateman impersonator Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) was framed by Fox’s Sean Hannity as “the great red vs. blue state debate.” A showdown between Florida and California. The highest-profile governors on either side of the political aisle standing face to face (supposedly) to discuss key differences between their policy platforms.

For anyone with a shred of honesty, integrity, or functioning brain stem, DeSantis stole the show, buoyed by the fact that each debate topic was built on statistical reality.

The debate was essentially a sales pitch to persuade those who haven’t yet escaped California to book one of the few remaining U-Hauls and get the hell out of there before it’s too late. DeSantis hammered Newsom on his obvious failures — including exploding crime, Chinese Communist Party worship, and out-of-control gas prices — with visual aids, including San Francisco’s infamous poop map and a page from Gender Queer depicting sex acts better suited for the Oval Office than an elementary school library.

And Newsom’s only response was the Democratic Party favorite: Lie, lie again, and then lie some more, even if that meant attacking DeSantis from the left and the right with an added layer of faux disgust at DeSantis’s supposed bloodthirsty bigotry — the most stomach-churning, sycophantic example being Newsom’s disgust that DeSantis mispronounced the vice president’s name! What a racist.

And the cherry on this particular cake? The shameless party line that President Joe Biden’s presidency has been, as Newsom put it, a “masterclass,” delivered through his ever-grinning Cheshire cat veneers.

But beneath the viral moments, insane propaganda, and rare flashes of actual substantive debate, DeSantis raised one point that every citizen needs to understand: Newsom is running a shadow campaign for president of the United States.

Whether it’s as a last-minute substitute for the mentally incapacitated Biden, who makes fossils seem positively virile, or as a candidate in the future, sooner or later, Newsom will be president.

Newsom may be many things, but he’s not stupid. He’s certainly not stupid enough to believe his own nonsense regarding Biden’s “grade A” performance or his laughable claim that he would “take Joe Biden at 100 [years old] rather than Ron DeSantis any day of the week at any age.”

In many ways, Newsom is the ultimate Democrat, and that includes his willingness to defend his party’s leader while plotting his ultimate demise.

Newsom’s rise to power involved constantly failing upward, with the destruction of San Francisco preceding the destruction of California. Like all true progressives, he has billionaire funding, owing his entire career to the Getty oil dynasty — making his performative hatred of Big Oil even more absurd. His resume even includes an obligatory sex scandal with an employee’s wife, which seems to be a prerequisite for those with political ambitions these days.

But none of this matters because people vote for him anyway.

The man destroyed San Francisco and was reelected in 2007 with 73% of the vote.

As lieutenant governor of California, he patiently waited in the wings for then-California Gov. Jerry Brown to retire (sound familiar?) before becoming governor in 2018 with 61.9% of the vote, spending over three times more than his opponent.

Despite bringing the San Francisco model to California, he survived 2021’s recall election with 61.9% of the vote and was reelected in 2022 with 59.2% of the vote (raising almost 10 times as much as his opponent).

For anyone with eyes or ears, the failure of radical Democratic Party policy in states such as California is obvious. The real problem we face is that millions of Democratic Party voters simply don’t care.

You may ask: How can Newsom stand there and lie about crime, sexual propaganda, immigration control (or lack thereof), taxes, gas prices, or the supposedly “booming” economy?

Well, because lying has made him the most powerful man in California. Why wouldn’t it make him the most powerful man in the world?
