The GOP is being suffocated by losers and their enablers

The denial of reality by Republican leaders is continuing to suffocate the party and give Democrats a wide-open lane to continue to hold power at the state and federal levels.
The latest bit of bad (and totally obvious) news is that the Republican National Committee has the lowest amount of cash on hand since February 2015. The RNC is sitting on $9.1 million right now, far lower than the $20 million it had at the same point in the 2016 election cycle and the $61 million it was sitting on during the 2020 cycle.
DESANTIS VS. NEWSOM IS THE DEBATE WE SHOULD BE HAVING
For comparison, the Democratic National Committee is sitting on $17.7 million, nearly double the RNC. “People familiar with the party’s finances” say that the RNC is missing out on both “large checks” from big donors and on the small-dollar donations from everyday Republicans. In other words, the party is failing on every front.
None of this is a surprise. RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has overseen loss after loss for the GOP since taking over after the 2016 elections. In the most recent round of losses, Republicans were outspent in the Kentucky governor’s race, Virginia legislature elections, Ohio abortion proposition, and Pennsylvania Supreme Court elections. McDaniel has more than doubled her salary since taking over as Republicans have lost election after election.
McDaniel can’t win elections and can’t raise money anymore, so what does the RNC do under her leadership? She has touted a “Bank Your Vote” initiative to encourage GOP voters to vote early, both in person and by mail. But that effort has been actively sabotaged by the GOP front-runner, and McDaniel’s power broker, former President Donald Trump. McDaniel is a Trump ally, meaning she can’t even get out of her own way when she is doing something right.

All of these failures are self-evident, and yet RNC committee members are too squeamish to make a change in the face of even more losses. They dutifully reelected McDaniel earlier this year, with Trump’s backing, despite all of the glaring warning signs. They are allowing McDaniel to steer the ship into 2024, right through the wreckage of the 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2023 ships that she dashed along the rocks. But don’t worry, at least running Donald Trump against Joe Biden could never possibly backfire, right?
How many losses does it take for Republicans to realize that the person in charge is a loser who is driving the party in the wrong direction? We are currently at four with a fifth one looming as McDaniel and the GOP prepare to run a retread loser in Trump with less cash on hand than before Trump hit the stage. Republicans need to wake up before setting the country back years by handing Democrats even more power.
