Pericles, the ancient Greek politician and general, once said, “Time is the wisest counselor of all.” In that spirit, and after the shellacking Republicans endured in Tuesday’s election, time has shown that without a doubt, Harmeet Dhillon should have been elected chairwoman of the Republican National Committee in January. Instead, the majority chose to reelect Ronna McDaniel. It was another disastrous mistake by RNC members in a long line of recent political mistakes.

“Republicans are tired of losing,” Dhillon said during an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show. “We need to radically reshape our leadership to win.” She said these words 11 months ago. They could have been said two days ago.

Less than a year later, another election defeat would show just how prophetic Dhillon was. She would have brought change and reform to the party, which scares those in power the most. But more importantly, she would have laid the groundwork and foundation for Republicans to start winning elections again. Since being elected in 2017, McDaniel has had very little electoral success, a point emphatically made by presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy during the Republican debate on Wednesday.

Most people are familiar with McDaniel’s resume. Aside from Reince Priebus, she has served longer than any other RNC chairperson since 1896. The GOP hasn’t experienced a true political victory during her time as chairwoman. It’s actually harder to justify keeping McDaniel in charge than it is for replacing her.

Dhillon has more victories this year than McDaniel, albeit in the courtroom. It was the Dhillon Law Group that won a $100,000 settlement with Spreckels Union School District earlier this year in a landmark legal victory against a school that transitioned a student without notifying the student’s mother. It’s indicative of the kind of winning culture many believe Dhillon would bring.

Moreover, Dhillon inspires in a way that McDaniel doesn’t. Whether it’s Dhillon’s intelligence, savviness, ambition, or outstanding oratorical skills, Dhillon presents herself as more prepared, more serious, and better suited for RNC chairwoman. Dhillon has a natural patriotism and pride about her that many people could learn from. Consider her words during a speech at AmericaFest last year in Phoenix.

“Let’s talk about the American legacy and conservatism,” she said. “In 1776, 56 men signed a divinely inspired piece of paper and created the greatest system of governance this world has ever seen, inspired by God. The mission statement was simple: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Whether in the courtroom, the boardroom, or amongst the grassroots of our party, I’ve worked my entire life to preserve and also expand the freedoms outlined in the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. Those two documents are why I’m a conservative.”

Additionally, Dhillon differs from McDaniel because of her desire to go on the offensive. Truthfully, in this way, unfortunately, she differs from many Republicans in general, who typically prefer to be reactive. After the string of defeats suffered by Republicans, it’s obvious the time is now for a leader willing to go on offense against the Left.

Furthermore, Dhillon has preached about the terrifying systemic changes the Left is trying to make in our culture. Unlike other Republican leaders, she knows we are in the middle of a culture war of survival. It’s another example of why the RNC should have elected her.

“We’re in the middle of a culture war in our country, fighting an enemy that is as powerful as it is relentless. But what is the party doing to stop their advance?”

The answer to that is “nothing but losing.” And it’s been that way since McDaniel has been in charge.
