Tlaib can’t pretend to care about ‘coexistence’ with Israel

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) wants you to think she is both an expert on everything related to Israel and Gaza and that she is incredibly gullible and doesn’t understand the words coming out of her own mouth or the mouths of antisemitic protesters.
MSNBC’s Chris Hayes asked Tlaib why she cut a video to pressure President Joe Biden that included, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” a phrase that promotes the genocide of Israelis. Here was Tlaib’s response: “Yeah, I mean, look, I’m asking my colleagues don’t distort the words of my residents. Many people in this movement of human rights for Palestinians have always centered around coexistence.” She added that her colleagues “know” where her heart is on this.
WHAT THE GOP CAN LEARN FROM 2023
The problem with Tlaib’s deflection is that no one is distorting the words of her residents. A crowd chanting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is chanting for genocide. Tlaib, who ostensibly knows exactly what that phrase means, given that she is supposedly an expert on this and even deleted a tweet in 2020 that used the phrase, promoted it knowing what it means. It was a conscious decision that Tlaib made to include and highlight the phrase. It’s less of a dog whistle and more of a blaring siren.
We know this because we know what Tlaib believes. Her idea of “coexistence” is that Hamas terrorists be allowed to attack Israel with impunity, which is why she has repeatedly voted against funding for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, an entirely defensive missile system that intercepts Palestinian rockets that routinely target civilian areas. Tlaib displayed a map outside her office on her first day in Congress that labeled Israel as “Palestine.” She has lied about Israel striking a hospital and tripled down on that lie even after it was proved conclusively that the Palestinians were the perpetrators.

Tlaib’s statement the day after Palestinian terrorists slaughtered 1,400 Israelis did not include a single condemnation of the terrorists but instead attacked Israel for its “occupation” and “apartheid system” that “can lead to resistance.” Tlaib described the rapes, kidnappings, and executions of Israeli civilians by Palestinian terrorists as “resistance” that was all Israel’s fault. But sure, she is all about “coexistence.”
This act doesn’t fool anyone. Tlaib knows what she is doing, what she is saying, and the rhetoric she is promoting. She is an antisemite and terrorist sympathizer through and through, and no amount of crocodile tears or deflections should distract from that fact.
