Although the NBC News anchors moderating the third Republican presidential debate wanted the participating candidates to begin the night focusing on former President Donald Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy instead aimed his fire elsewhere, eviscerating Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel at the start of her own circus.
“We’ve become a party of losers,” the billionaire biotech entrepreneur declared. “Since Ronna McDaniel took over as chairwoman of the RNC in 2017, we lost in 2018, 2020, 2022. No red wave ever came. We got trounced last night in 2023.”

Ramaswamy also correctly blasted the RNC for granting NBC the right to host one of the precious few primary debates.
“You think the Democrats would ever hire Greg Gutfeld to moderate a Democratic debate?” Ramswamy asked, promising to pass his time to McDaniel if she was willing to resign during the debate.
If anything, Ramaswamy understated the rot of the RNC under McDaniel’s leadership or lack thereof. Republicans indeed suffered humiliating losses in 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2023. But Republicans also lost a Senate seat in Alabama (!) in 2017, two out of three gubernatorial races in 2019, and both Senate seats in the 2021 Georgia runoffs.
But what Ramaswamy really left unsaid is precisely why McDaniel has been such a national embarrassment. McDaniel only began her political career as Sen. Mitt Romney’s (R-UT) niece, riding his coattails until she found a second boss from whom to become a bootlicker: Trump. In exchange for the top job at the GOP, McDaniel once paid Trump by removing her “Romney” moniker from her professional name, and now the rest of the bill has come due; instead of helping Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) secure a series of crucial and winnable state races in Virgina, McDaniel withheld funds from the governor and instead helped Trump pay for his mounting criminal legal bills.
One other final fact Ramaswamy might not have had time for? The fact that in her pursuit to drain the swamp, McDaniel has rewarded her losing record by more than doubling her own salary. Very elitist indeed.
