To say that President Joe Biden has had a confused response to the slaughter of Israeli civilians would be an understatement.

First, within hours of the attack, before Biden had issued his first statement on the incident, the United States Office of Palestinian Affairs issued a statement saying, “We unequivocally condemn the attack of Hamas terrorists and the loss of life that has incurred. We urge all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks. Terror and violence solve nothing.”

ISRAEL’S ANNIHILATION OF HAMAS IS THE PROPORTIONATE RESPONSE

At the time, Israeli defense forces hadn’t even finished clearing its territory of Hamas terrorists.

The statement was quickly deleted after widespread criticism.

Now, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has deleted his own statement calling for Israel to stand down. This morning, Blinken posted on X, “Turkish Foreign Minister @HakanFidan and I spoke further on Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel. I encouraged Turkey’s advocacy for a cease-fire and the release of all hostages by Hamas immediately.”

The post has since been deleted.

The problem for the Biden administration on Hamas is that it is filled with staff who buy the Hamas view that violence against Israel is justified and that any Israeli response against Hamas only continues a cycle of violence. These Democratic staffers see absolutely no moral difference between violence committed by Hamas specifically targeting civilians and Israeli violence targeting Hamas that sometimes harms civilian bystanders.

Biden himself is, so far, saying all the right things… if belatedly… but the staff underneath him will eventually win and Biden will also call for a ceasefire.
