The Biden White House is right about Twitter
Conn Carroll
Most, but not all, Democrats have completely lost their minds over Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter. MSNBC’s Ben Collins even predicted that voters would not be able to access accurate information on Election Day because of Musk’s Twitter takeover.
Fortunately, cooler heads are prevailing at the Biden White House. According to Matthew Zeitlin, only a small minority of Biden staffers buy into the Left’s hysteria about disinformation. Instead, the Biden team reportedly believes Twitter is valuable for just two things: 1) selling its message to other influential figures, and 2) encouraging friendly activists to put pressure on those elite voices.
This is a well-informed understanding of Twitter, but it also underscores why the “Twitter Files“ are such a big deal. By suppressing conservative voices on Twitter, Twitter’s far-left management team was able to help Democrats achieve both of the goals listed above: selling the Democratic message to key influencers and helping far-left activists pressure those influencers to echo the preferred Democratic narrative.
Democrats still control ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, MSNBC, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Associated Press, Reuters, Facebook, YouTube, and countless other media outlets and platforms. They still have an unmatched ability to coordinate and spread their message. But for some Democrats, the loss of control of even one platform in the digital landscape is just too much to bear.
