By now, Philadelphia’s crime surge over the last three years is well documented. The city has set records for homicides and violent crime since 2020. Car thefts and carjackings have also plagued the city. Philadelphia reached over 1,000 carjackings in a year for the first time in 2022. This was after Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon (D-PA) had her car stolen at gunpoint in 2021. The City of Brotherly Love has turned into the City of Brotherly Theft, and the people are suffering. And now, they are apparently relying on themselves to retrieve their stolen vehicles.

A video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, showed the victim of a car theft who tracked down the person who stole it, then tried to take it back from the criminal while the car was being driven down one of the city’s busiest streets. People are left to do this in the city when criminals run amok and when Philadelphia’s Democratic leadership is ineffective at protecting innocent people. As a resident in the area, it’s horrifying to see people go through such traumatic experiences because Democrats such as the city’s Soros-funded district attorney, Larry Krasner, prioritize the welfare of criminals instead of the well-being of innocent people.

“Absolutely insane footage of my friend who had his car stolen from the gym yesterday and tracked it down,” former City Council candidate Sam Oropeza posted on X. “I am disgusted at the lawlessness and crime happening everyday in Philadelphia. Thank God my friend was not injured.”

The video looks like a stuntman performing on the set of the latest Hollywood action movie or John Wick sequel. The victim is seen holding on to dear life outside the car door as the automobile accelerates down the street. The incident occurred earlier this month near the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. The area where two of the most important documents in world history were signed has now become nothing more than the backdrop of rampant criminal behavior.

Philadelphians deserve better, but unfortunately, much of this is because of the city’s voters insisting on one-party rule for nearly 75 years. Democrats have ruled the city since before Elvis Presley shook his hips into rock ‘n’ roll stardom. The people proclaim they want change but continue to vote for the same kind of politicians that embolden criminals to act with reckless abandon and terrorize innocent people.

The video was undoubtedly shocking but not nearly as appalling as the carnage criminals have caused in the city in the last three years. All of these destructive acts and impotence from city officials raise the question: When is enough, enough?
