Rand Paul exposes Democrats for not ‘trusting the science’

On Thursday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) asked Congress to “trust the science.” And just like during the COVID-19 pandemic, Democrats refused to listen. Instead, the left-wing political party ignored science and facts and once again prioritized the potential for nonsensical mandates to assert their authority. It appears the Democrats learned nothing from the pandemic.

According to a press release, Paul proposed a resolution to protect Senate pages from any mandates implemented because of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases nationwide. This would include any “vaccination, testing, and masking requirements related to COVID-19, especially given the myriad of studies showing that for young and healthy people, the risks posed by the vaccine are greater than the risks posed by COVID-19.”

PANDEMIC POLITICS RETURNS TO THE SENATE AS COVID-19 CASES RISE

“Are Democrats so insistent that they know better than everyone else — that we will be beholden to bending the knee and asking their permission to live?” the senator said. “To participate in life, you have to be vaccinated three times? There is no science to back this up.”

Paul’s objections are well warranted, especially in 2023. Democrats and their vaccine enthusiasts continuously move the needle (pun intended) regarding vaccines and the potential for mandates. The Biden administration and the Democrats who vouched for them were routinely embarrassed about the COVID-19 vaccine’s inconsistent efficiency during the pandemic. Unfortunately, Democrats didn’t listen and “objected to Paul’s resolution passing by unanimous consent,” according to a press release.

“Even the proponents of the mandates will admit, if forced to, the vaccines don’t stop transmission,” Paul said on Thursday.

Paul is correct. After the failures of the vaccines to prevent the spread or contraction, many experts reversed course on the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines. Even Dr. Deborah Birx admitted the “experts” who promoted vaccinations “overplayed the vaccines” during an interview with Neil Cavuto in August 2022.

“I knew these vaccines were not going to protect against infection,” Birx said. “And I think we overplayed the vaccines, and it made people then worry that it’s not going to protect against severe disease and hospitalization. It will. But let’s be very clear: 50% of the people who died from the omicron surge were older, vaccinated.”

Instead of playing politics with the lives of innocent people, the Democrats should do what they claimed they wanted to do all along: “Trust the science.” Vaccines are helpful and should be available for those who wish to receive them. However, at this point, given the science and the evidence that vaccinated people get and spread the virus, it makes little sense to return to any of the mandate nonsense. Democrats should admit they were wrong, state they were doing what they thought was in the country’s best interest in a time of confusion, apologize for their errors, and, ultimately, listen to what the Kentucky senator said.
