Navy veteran endures more violence in Philadelphia than in war zones

Reports of the rampant violent crime plaguing Philadelphia have been known for years. Larry Krasner, the city’s Soros-funded, radical left-wing district attorney, implemented many criminal justice reform policies that kept criminals out of jail and on the street. These horrible decisions were all done under the guise of social justice. Unfortunately, people like Larry Krasner didn’t suffer from these poor decisions. It was innocent people such as Scott Harris, a Navy veteran who was viciously attacked last month.

According to Philadelphia’s ABC affiliate, WPVI-TV, Harris was taking his dog Nora for a walk around his Brewerytown neighborhood when he was jumped from behind by multiple people. Harris said he didn’t recall much from the assault but believed the people who attacked him were from an illegal party at a park near his house. He said that before the attack, he called the police about the party, but they apparently never responded to Harris’s call, WPVI reported.

“It’s kind of ironic,” Harris said. “I spent a year in a war zone and two years in a country that’s not so safe, and then I come here and get attacked in a neighborhood a block from my house.”

Harris previously served in Iraq and was an adviser during the current war between Russia and Ukraine. Currently, he works at Philadelphia’s Navy Yard. The attack on Harris is indicative of the kind of violent crime Philadelphians have unfortunately become accustomed to during Krasner’s tenure. The welfare of criminals was prioritized over the safety of innocent people in the city. Things are worse than ever before in Philadelphia, with a record number of homicides and carjackings happening over the last three years.

Philadelphia’s criminals have spared no one. Victims have included innocent ordinary citizens like Harris to congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon. Even former Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson had his car stolen earlier this year. And through it all, city officials go through the motions, doing little, if anything, to implement anything meaningful to stop the crime wave.

And the fact that a Navy veteran endured more violence while walking his dog through the City of Brotherly Love than his time served in actual war zones shows just how awful things have turned in Philadelphia. It more resembles Gotham City than the cradle of liberty that gave the world the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America. First, Philadelphia’s Democratic leadership blamed the pandemic for the surge in violence, but anyone who wasn’t a registered Democrat knew that was bogus. With the pandemic long done, the crime remains — and unfortunately, so do the city’s elected leaders who contributed to this mess.
