Even Democrats think Biden too old to run again: Poll

More than three-quarters of adults, including 69% of Democrats, believe President Joe Biden is “too old to effectively serve another 4-year term,” according to a poll conducted by the Associated Press.
A slim majority, but just 28% of Republicans, believe the same thing about former President Donald Trump.

Biden’s age is by far his most defining characteristic among adults, with 26% saying old/outdated/aging/elderly when asked what the first word that came to mind was when they thought of Biden. Slow/confused/bumbling was second with 15%, trailed by corrupt/criminal/crooked at 6%.
For Trump, corrupt/criminal/crooked was his defining characteristic, with 15% of adults choosing those words as what first came to mind when they heard Trump’s name. Only 1% said “old.”
Perhaps even more worrying for Biden, fewer than half of Democrats, just 43%, said they definitely will vote for Biden next November. Another 39% of Democrats said they will probably vote for Biden, but 11% said they probably won’t, and 7% said they definitely won’t.
Biden does particularly poorly with younger people. Only 28% of Democrats aged 18-44 said they definitely will vote for Biden, while 33% said they either probably or definitely won’t.
These are truly terrible numbers for an incumbent president to have with his own party with an election just a little over a year away.
Biden is reportedly annoyed with Gov. Gavin Newsom (R-CA), who is planning to debate Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) soon. Both men are decades younger than Biden and Trump. Biden and his advisers worry this debate “could make voters think Newsom is running a shadow 2024 campaign at a time when most Democrats say they’d prefer a different candidate at the top of the ticket.”

Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly also insulted by the move. “It’s disrespectful,” an outside adviser to Harris told NBC. “Joe Biden is running with Kamala Harris. That’s the Democratic ticket.”
Biden/Harris may be the Democratic ticket, but apparently, most Democrats wish it wasn’t.
