Attorney General Merrick Garland has been controversial in the nation’s political landscape for the last seven years. Garland has developed quite a reputation from the controversy over his Supreme Court nomination to his actions as attorney general. According to a recent poll, this reputation has made him unpopular. Most voters now have an unfavorable rating of Garland.

A recent Rasmussen Reports poll revealed that 44% of “likely U.S. voters now view Garland unfavorably.” This includes 32% of voters who “have a very unfavorable impression of the attorney general.” Conversely, the survey showed that “36% of Likely U.S. voters” view Garland favorably, including “18% who have a Very Favorable view of him.” About 21% of voters weren’t sure about how to feel about the nation’s attorney general.

WRAY LIED ABOUT NOT TARGETING CATHOLICS

Rasmussen conducted this poll between Aug. 8 and 10, before Garland appointed David Weiss as special counsel on Friday to investigate Hunter Biden. Given that blowback, it is not unrealistic to think Garland’s favorability rating has decreased even more. Much of the public blasted Garland’s decision and labeled it as another questionable and corrupt act by Biden’s Department of Justice.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) has been a staunch critic of the Biden administration and the reckless weaponization of the DOJ. On Saturday, Scott blasted Garland’s decision and explained how bad it was for the country. He claimed it’s just more of the same and gives people considerable proof of zero trust in the DOJ.

“Appointing David as the special counsel is like keeping the concept of the DOJ protecting Democrats while hunting Republicans,” Scott said. “I can’t think of a more forceful sign that nothing has changed, and that’s bad for America. It’s bad for justice, and frankly, it’s bad for everyday Americans who ask the question, ‘Can I trust the DOJ?’ The answer is emphatically no.”

Rasmussen’s poll backs up Scott’s assertion about Garland. He is viewed less favorably than previous attorneys general, according to the survey. Now, 43% of voters believe Garland is “doing a worse job than most of his predecessors.” Comparatively, only 23% feel that Garland is on par with the attorneys general before him, while 10% said they were unsure.

It’s hard to believe that Merrick Garland was once considered to be an associate justice of the Supreme Court. As the country’s attorney general, he has repeatedly shown an inability to have good judgment. He’s been a partisan, agenda-driven legal bully, and now, the people in the nation are starting to realize it too.
