According to the latest polling from NPR, an overwhelming majority of Republicans, 72%, believe that economic growth should be prioritized over addressing climate change.

The vast majority of Democrats, 80%, believe the opposite — that climate change should be prioritized over economic growth.

DONALD TRUMP INDICTED: TIMELINE OF 2020 ELECTION INVESTIGATIONS

NPR, of course, thinks this means Republicans are crazy: “The latest heat wave is fueled by human-caused climate change from burning fossil fuels, but despite the settled science, the overwhelming evidence and the billions of dollars in increases for disaster preparation and recovery that climate change is costing the country, Republicans have grown more skeptical of the need to prioritize fixing it.”

One way that Democrats like to fix climate change is by enacting tons of new regulations that make new homes carbon-neutral. California, of course, has some of the nation’s strictest standards.

And sure, by enacting these regulations, California will reduce its carbon emissions which will…accomplish absolutely nothing since India and China are building hundreds of new coal power plants every year.

Meanwhile, California’s costly climate-building regulations absolutely do raise the price of building a new home, which makes California’s already unaffordable housing market even worse. NPR never mentions this in their little story about economic growth and climate change.

If Democrats want to know why blue states can’t build anything and all of their cities have horrible housing markets where nobody can afford to buy a home, they may want to look in the mirror and ask why climate change is more important than economic growth.
