Hunter Biden is causing more problems for his father. A poll taken before Devon Archer, Biden’s former business partner, was interviewed before the House Oversight Committee on Monday showed that nearly half of “voters unaffiliated with either party” suspect Biden was involved in a cover-up concerning his son’s business deals. It remains to be seen what, if any, impact this will have on Biden’s reelection campaign. However, it’s definitely not a good sign that so many people have questions regarding the president’s integrity.

A Rasmussen Reports survey revealed that 48% of voters who are not affiliated with the Republican or Democrat parties thought it was “very likely” that the president was “part of an illegal cover-up to hide his involvement in his son Hunter’s foreign business deals.” Additionally, 49% of such voters thought the scandal was “very serious.” The fact that such a high percentage of unaffiliated voters think the scandal was “very serious” could be another unfavorable sign for the 46th president.

BEST WAY TO STOP CHILD LABOR IS TO SECURE THE BORDER

Additionally, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) discussed the Hunter Biden scandal in July. He referenced multiple incidents in which Biden called his father, vice president at the time, during supposed business transactions. McCarthy categorized it as an alleged “criminal bribery scheme” that rivaled the Watergate scandal of the Nixon administration.

“Because this president has also used something we have not seen since Richard Nixon — use the weaponization of government to benefit his family and deny Congress the ability to have the oversight,” McCarthy said.

Rasmussen reported that 46% of unaffiliated voters “strongly agreed” with McCarthy’s quote. It’s yet another sign of the political turmoil the president’s son has caused his father. The fact that such a high percentage of independent voters agree with McCarthy’s comparison to Watergate could be ominous for Joe Biden.

Voters have made it clear that they are incredibly skeptical of Joe Biden’s honesty and trustworthiness concerning his son’s controversies. It could cause additional challenges for his reelection campaign and erode the confidence, what’s left of it anyway, in the Biden administration.

It is one thing for Republican voters to dislike Joe Biden or think he is involved in some sort of scandal. That is the nature of the country’s political world today and indicative of the tribalistic divide. Republicans will think Democrats are involved in scandals, and Democrats will claim Republicans are engaged in misconduct. Such revelations would surprise no one. But having approximately half of all voters thinking the president is doing shady things, well, to quote Joe Biden, “this is a big (expletive deleted) deal!”
