The terrible Democratic governance of California isn’t just driving residents away over the last few years; the state’s projected population over the next 40 years has also dropped dramatically.

The California Department of Finance’s population forecast projects that the state’s population in 2060 will be 39.51 million people, which is just a tick under the population recorded in the 2020 census. In other words, California’s population is projected to be lower 37 years from now than it is at present.

THE POLITICAL PRESSURE ON BIDEN FAMILY CORRUPTION IS WORKING — KEEP IT UP

Though the projected population isn’t much lower than the state’s current population, the previous population projections illustrate just how dramatically Democratic policies have caused California’s future to deteriorate. Three years ago, California was projected to have a population of 45 million people in 2060. A few years before that, the projection was over 50 million people. In 2007, the California Department of Finance projected a population of 59.5 million by 2050. Now, that projected number is 40 million.

After more than a century of growth, California’s population has fallen in each of the last three years. California had gained House seats during reapportionment after every census until 2010. After the 2020 census, California lost a seat for the first time in its history. If its population does remain stagnant over the next several decades, as is being projected, the state will lose plenty more.

Under singly-party Democratic rule, California has become a bastion of homelessness and poverty. The exorbitant cost of living is causing residents to flee to more affordable states, as is the tax burden. Those taxes are then used to fund Democratic projects that are always promised but never delivered, like the money furnace that is the high-speed rail or Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) plan to build 3.5 million homes that is already more than three years behind schedule.

California is a failing state, and state Democrats have no idea how to turn it around. They flew too close to the progressive sun and turned the state with the biggest geological and environmental advantages into a state that people are looking to leave behind. California is continuing to become a shell of itself, and that trend is only looking worse in the coming years.
