President Joe Biden’s hooligan son, Hunter Biden, has been in the news a lot recently, stemming from his use of drugs and prostitutes, alleged money laundering, and recent criminal charges. The deal Hunter Biden agreed to that kept him out of jail has drawn the ire of many Republicans who have accused the president’s son of receiving special perks and privileges. It turns out most of the country agrees with this sentiment, according to a recent poll from Rasmussen Reports.

According to the poll, 67% of voters believe that Hunter Biden received “favorable treatment from federal prosecutors because his father is the president.” Even more damning was that the poll results included 49% who believe it is “Very Likely” the president’s son received special treatment. It is horrible optics for the first family and largely brings credibility issues about the application of justice in the country. It also significantly discredits the Democrats’ oft-repeated claim that “no one is above the law.”

Furthermore, the poll revealed that 55% of likely voters disapprove of the deal the president’s son received after he pleaded guilty to violating federal firearms and tax laws. Instead of jail time, Hunter Biden will get probation for a felony gun charge and plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges of “willful failure to pay” federal income taxes.

It’s unlikely that the country will ever truly find out if Hunter Biden received any preferential treatment because he is the president’s son. And, if we ever do, it will most likely not be until years after Biden is out of office. However, the fact that two-thirds of voters believe this is true reveals how little faith the country has in the Department of Justice.

Moreover, it’s indicative of the distrust in the Biden White House and what many believe to be a two-tiered justice system — one for the elite (so-called) ruling class and one for the everyday, ordinary person. It is not a good perception, as justice is supposed to be applied equally, and no one is supposed to be above the law — regardless if it is the president’s son or the janitor’s son.
