Democrats can’t talk about masculinity without crossing transgender activists

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) wants his fellow progressives to take the crisis of masculinity facing young men seriously. There is one major issue with that: They would have to admit that men exist.

Murphy lamented that the Left is “missing the crisis happening” with young men and that “we need to talk about it openly and without fear.” He is, of course, correct. There is a crisis of fatherhood, or lack thereof, leaving boys to grow into young men without proper guidance from male role models. People on the Right have noticed this, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) chief among them. Meanwhile, some bad actors have used the internet to profit off of this crisis and steer young men in even worse directions.

THE SUPREME COURT SAVED THE CONSTITUTION FROM BIDEN

All of this is an issue, and Murphy is concerned. “We cannot avoid the biological/evolutionary differences between men and women,” Murphy said. “It’s not ‘toxic masculinity’ that causes men to commit 90% of murders, for instance. Both biology and thousand of years of culture have wired men differently. Policy has to acknowledge that.”

The problem for Murphy is that the Democrats and progressives he is urging to take this crisis seriously disagree with a simple statement he made: “We cannot avoid the biological/evolutionary differences between men and women.” This statement flies directly in the face of the transgender movement that has taken over the Democratic Party. You are supposed to think that there are no differences between men and women, that they are nothing more than two social categories between which you can switch at the drop of a hat.

How, then, can Democrats or progressives truly reckon with the masculinity crisis facing young men? Transgender ideology will not let them acknowledge any biological differences between men and women. Murphy’s colleagues have accepted (or been forced to accept) living in a fantasy world where biology doesn’t exist. If being a man is a “social construct” that you can opt in or out of at any time you wish, you can’t even identify this crisis.

By acknowledging that those biological differences exist, Murphy has already committed a transgression against transgenderism. When Hawley acknowledged those differences, he was accused of violence against transgender people and being partially responsible for suicides. It isn’t out of the question that Murphy may be forced to apologize for his inconvenient factual claim. Even if he doesn’t, many Democrats won’t follow his lead because doing so would be running afoul of the transgender activists they now let call the shots.
