Public opinion polls have not been too kind to President Joe Biden.

The most recent polls show that most people think the country is headed in the wrong direction, and most disapprove of Biden’s job performance. Now, a new survey revealed that nearly half the people in the country do not believe that Biden received 81 million votes in the 2020 presidential election.

BIDEN TRIES TO SHAKE LOW MARKS ON ECONOMY WITH ‘BIDENOMICS’ PUSH

According to Rasmussen Reports, 49% of voters agreed with the statement, “”There is no way Joe Biden got 81 million votes in the 2020 election,” including 33% who strongly agree. Conversely, 44% of the country disagrees with the statement, including 35% who “strongly disagree.” The poll was conducted between June 25-27, 2023, and consisted of “1,051 U.S. likely voters.”

Perhaps the most surprising revelation was that those who agreed with the statement included 31% of Democrats and 45% of voters who chose not to identify with any political party, compared to 72% of Republicans. And while it’s unsurprising that so many Republicans agreed with the statement, it is that nearly half of all unaffiliated voters and over 30% of Democrat voters did. The results suggest that much of the country feels election results cannot be trusted.

Additionally, Rasmussen reinforced this lack of trust in the validity of elections with another survey that showed that 66% of the country is “concerned that the outcome of the 2024 presidential election will be affected by cheating, including 40% who are very concerned.”

These results included the majority of Democrat and Republican respondents. Also, the “majorities of every racial category” revealed that they are “at least somewhat concerned that the outcome of the 2024 presidential election will be affected by cheating.”

Regardless of one’s political affiliation, these results are a damning reflection of the trust in government in the country. It is something that should concern everyone.

Voter turnout for elections is already a challenge, especially in non-presidential elections. Suppose the majority of likely voters start to lose faith in elections and not believe the results are honest. In that case, it will lead to a further political divide and, ultimately, a deterioration of our constitutional republic. Moreover, it’s indicative of just how important election integrity should be in the upcoming election.
