For the first anniversary of Dobbs v. Jackson, Senate Democrats plan to propose a series of pro-abortion bills. But they don’t actually think any of the laws will pass. Their goal, typical of the Democratic Party, is to provoke the GOP.
On Wednesday afternoon, Democrats will seek unanimous approval for four pro-abortion bills.
GAVIN NEWSOM ADMITS CALIFORNIA IS FAILING
The first is the Right to Contraception Act, which would federally ensure legal access to contraception and sterilization procedures. The second is the Let Doctors Provide Reproductive Health Care Act, which would shield doctors from legal restrictions to perform abortions. This bill would also establish a huge grant: $40 million dollars for the Department of Justice to “assist and educate” abortion providers.
The third bill, Upholding Protections for Health and Online Location Data (UPHOLD) Privacy Act, would hide data of women seeking abortions from social media platforms. The final bill, the Freedom to Travel for Health Care Act, similar to the Let Doctors Provide Reproductive Health Care Act, would allow doctors to provide abortions for women from other states without any legal consequences. Washington Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) said these bills are “common sense,” allegedly irrefutable proposals that will back Republicans into a corner of void logic.
In a statement, Murray said, “Senate Democrats will force Republicans to go on the record once again, and explain to the American people why they refuse to codify our right to contraception, why they refuse to let women travel across state lines for lifesaving health care.”
As pro-life Republicans point out time and time again, culminating in the overturning of Roe v. Wade, there is no constitutional right to abortion. Are Democrats really hoping to make Republicans look stupid by provoking them to reinforce their (correct) position?
GOP politicians will probably not be able to give Democrats the reaction they want. The proposal of these bills will be an opportunity for Republicans to reassert their position, but it is doubtful they will say anything that shocks the public.
If we do not already have enough evidence that the current goal of the Left is to cause political division, here is a clear case.
But, as Napoleon says, “When you notice that an enemy is making an error, take care not to interfere with the enemy from completing it so you can take advantage at the right time.”

These couple of weeks toward the end of June are important for the pro-life movement as well as for pro-choice activists. Live Action, a major anti-abortion nonprofit organization, released a letter on Thursday signed by major pro-life figures promoting equal protection. The letter says that the movement will focus on establishing the humanity and personhood of every individual despite developmental age. It points to the Fourteenth Amendment and the constitutional protection of all persons. Finally, it proposes a series of policies and steps for states to take toward this goal.
GOP presidential candidate Mike Pence will deliver a speech at the Celebrate Life Rally in Washington, D.C., on June 24th, the anniversary of Roe’s reversal. Pence has been a fierce pro-life advocate throughout his campaign. The facts and the history of this country are on his side. Let’s hope he can deliver this Saturday.
