Even while Democrats, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams, have recognized just how damaging the border crisis is to people and communities, the Biden administration remains in blissful denial of what it is encouraging and who is being harmed by it.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, the incompetent messenger for an incompetent administration, took to the podium to complain about Republican governors sending illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities. This comes after California, which claims to be a sanctuary state, accused Florida of flying illegal immigrants to Sacramento.

ANOTHER STEP TO BECOMING THE PARENT PARTY

“Busing or flying migrants around the country without any coordination with the federal government … state or local officials as well, is dangerous and unacceptable,” Jean-Pierre said. “It is dangerous and unacceptable because you are putting people’s lives at risk and … because you are actually putting a lot of pressure on these states and local areas.”

First, the idea that sending transportation to help illegal immigrants get to sanctuary cities that claim they are welcome there is not “putting people’s lives at risk.” The illegal immigrants who hop on a bus from Texas to Chicago are not being put in any danger other than that their destination is the increasingly lawless Chicago, which is certainly not what Jean-Pierre means. Illegal immigrants being chartered on a flight to Sacramento are not having their lives put at risk. That is utter nonsense.

The only people putting the lives of illegal immigrants at risk are the human traffickers smuggling them across the border in the first place, as was the case when 51 were found dead in an abandoned truck trailer, or the multiple cases where illegal immigrants were killed in car crashes or drowned while crossing the border. And those human traffickers have been emboldened by Jean-Pierre’s boss, President Joe Biden, and his refusal to enforce border laws or attempt to even slow down the influx.

Secondly, Jean-Pierre is actually correct that transporting illegal immigrants to places such as New York City and Washington, D.C., is putting a “lot of pressure” on those communities. But those large cities can certainly handle that pressure better than small border towns in Texas and Arizona, which the Biden administration has forced to shoulder the load of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants arriving every month for years.

Cry me a river for poor New York City having to endure a fraction of what small Texas towns like Eagle Pass or Laredo have been forced to live with under Biden’s border crisis.

This pathetic attempt to shame Republicans for bringing the border crisis to the doorstep of Democrats whose policies have created it is not going to work. They claim to support sanctuary cities, they want to ignore immigration laws, and they want to smear Border Patrol agents as villains. This is the Democratic Party’s crisis, and Republicans have correctly decided that they won’t allow Democrats to live free of the consequences of their own immigration policies.
