The Democratic Party as we know it is on the verge of collapse, nearly ready to capitulate to the ideology responsible for more deaths in the 20th century than 10 COVID-19 pandemics. It’s not just a small fringe of leftists anymore — according to a new poll, 58% of Democrats have a positive view of socialism, while 50% view capitalism negatively.
What should be (but isn’t) more astonishing is that the more educated a Democrat is, the more likely he or she is to support socialism. Just having a college degree boosts the favorability rating to 71%, per the CBS News Poll. Were they not taught about the horrors of socialism? Evidently not, based on its 18% disapproval rating. But if you’ve stepped onto a college campus in the last decade, you’d know communism is practically a prerequisite for becoming a faculty member at most schools.
The Democratic Party has not always been this way. Going back to 2010, more Democrats supported capitalism (51%) than socialism (50%), per Gallup. In 2012, 55% favored capitalism compared to 51% for socialism. The far-left shift began in 2016, when socialism beat out capitalism for the first time. And now, there’s never been such a wide favorability gap between socialism and capitalism before. The recent CBS poll showed a 26-point gap among Democrats, with 58% supporting socialism and 32% supporting capitalism. A Gallup poll from last year showed a 24-point gap, which was the largest at the time, with 66% for socialism and 42% for capitalism.

This leftward shift doesn’t just show up in the economy. The Democrats used to support strong borders, the nuclear family, Israel, and the Second Amendment. Not too long ago, former President Barack Obama was elected while opposing gay marriage. Today, the Left is all about “gender transitions” for children, open borders, banning guns, racial Marxism, Hamas apologetics, and abortion up until birth. Republicans have also become more liberal over time — with many today supporting abortion, gay marriage, and an expanded social safety net. Yet, the liberal media would have you believe the Republicans have gone off the rails and are mainstreaming right-wing extremism. The word for that is “projection.”

The victims of socialism have been warning America not to make the mistakes their countries have made. From Latin America to Eastern Europe to Asia, the socialist experiment has been tried. The results? Concentration camps, mass killings, bread lines, and mass starvation to the point where, in the case of Venezuela, they were eating zoo animals. Socialism hasn’t worked, not even one time! Capitalism, despite its flaws, has lifted over 1 billion people out of poverty since 1990 alone. Why aren’t they teaching that in college?
BELTWAY CONFIDENTIAL: WITH ABDUL EL SAYED WIN, MICHIGAN DEMOCRATS FALL TO THE MAMDANI LEFT
The Left has weaponized the “affordability crisis,” a crisis largely of their own making through overspending and overregulation, and their proposed solution is to double and triple down on the socialistic policies that brought us the $20 burrito. If liberals really want to bring costs down, more capitalism is the answer. Let’s stop throwing money at problems, expecting them to go away — such as California’s $24 billion homelessness program that resulted in a 20% larger homeless population — and instead reduce the government’s burden on business, a proven solution that creates jobs and wealth and cuts costs.
So what’ll it be, Democrats? Bread lines or bread winning? There’s the Democratic Socialists of America path to Soviet Russia, where you can virtue signal your way to the gulags, and there’s the “cold, callous” capitalist path to prosperity. The latter will make America great again for everyone of every background. The former will score you social credit points in the regime. Choose wisely.
