President Donald Trump deported a staggering 46,000 illegal aliens in July, a record unparalleled by any other president. That same month, Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 51,000 immigrants, an astonishing average of 1,645 a day. Indeed, more immigrants were issued deportation orders by a judge in the past 18 months than in the four years of Joe Biden’s presidency combined. In other words, the Trump administration and its Department of Homeland Security, on top of continuing to vacuum seal the southern border, are executing the most successful deportation operation in the nation’s history.
But you wouldn’t know it from all the blackpilling on X. In posts with a few thousand likes each, a handful of B-list blue checks on the social media site decided to brand Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin “a JOKE” (Nick Sortor) and “a deep state RINO loser” (Pino Americano) who wants mass “amnesty” (Mike Cernovich). Naturally, Politico ran to Steve Bannon to claim that Mullin is facing a “MAGA revolt” over boilerplate remarks that, indeed, there is a way for immigrants to come and stay in this country legally.
Bannon, who famously texted his good buddy Jeffrey Epstein that Trump should have been forcibly removed from office during his first term, does not like Mullin because he does not like Trump. But Politico could safely bank on Bannon, a Trump foe, to speak on behalf of “MAGA” and claim that “Mullin is the wrong guy at the wrong time for the wrong job — a time when we need focus on ‘mass deportations,’ we get an amnesty advocate.” And Politico’s gamble paid off, with the story going viral and being aggregated across the internet.
It’s a fiction that is better understood as a demoralization op than mere journalistic malpractice. It is a psyop by the left-wing anti-Trump media using the alt-right anti-Trump media to try and bait the Trump administration into making a mistake and fumbling a key winning issue for Republicans.
Despite the gradual breakdown of DHS under Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski, Trump has enjoyed a polling resurgence for his immigration performance since Mullin replaced Noem. In fact, immigration is once again Trump’s single greatest strength across the polling, with Quinnipiac, CBS News, and Morning Consult all finding Trump enjoys a higher net approval rating on the subject than any other area of his governance. And crucially, Republicans approve more highly of Trump’s immigration performance than any other subject. In the latest CNN poll, 82% of Republicans approved of Trump’s handling of immigration versus 66% who approve of his handling of the economy and Iran and a too-close-for-comfort 57% minority who approve of his handling of inflation. Harvard-Harris published the exact same finding, with 82% of Republicans approving of Trump’s immigration performance and only 8% strongly disapproving. Fewer than 1 in 5 people — so presumably a minority of Trump supporters — polled by the Associated Press say Trump hasn’t gone far enough in deporting illegal aliens already in the country.
Mullin is deporting more illegal aliens than Noem ever did while keeping the border sealed. He did as much during a full month in which the entire DHS was defunded by Senate Democrats, and despite the non-deportation operations of DHS going another two months without funding (which was only restored on a party-line reconciliation vote by Republicans), Mullin’s DHS — including the nation’s cybersecurity and counterterrorism operations — successfully staved off terrorist attacks during the unprecedented influx of over a million international tourists visiting for the FIFA World Cup and America 250 celebrations.
STEVE BANNON SAYS MAGA SUPPORTERS WANT BILL PULTE TO REPLACE MARKWAYNE MULLIN AT DHS
Is Mullin working with purplish and pragmatist Democrats like Govs. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) and Wes Moore (D-MD)? Yes. That’s also the only way for the federal government to get access to the criminal illegal aliens about to be released from state and local incarceration. ICE and DHS themselves prefer clean sweeps of criminal illegal aliens from jails and prisons over broad workplace and public raids, not only because law enforcement more quickly scours the “worst of the worst” from the streets, but also because the raids are more dangerous for them.
Mullin is not suspending the naturalization for legal immigrants to this country because Trump does not want him to, and Trump does not want him to because he didn’t campaign on deporting millions of legal immigrants. He campaigned on deporting millions of illegal aliens, with a special emphasis on “rapists,” “murderers,” and other criminals. If you are mad at Mullin, take it up with Trump. Otherwise, be thankful that we have a DHS secretary who is doing the job quickly, precisely, and with as little theatrics as possible.
