Last weekend, we celebrated 250 years of America, joyously commemorating our miraculous and inspired founding. Much has transpired since the signatories of the Declaration of Independence pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to create a new nation rooted in a grand and unprecedented experiment. Their courageous risk birthed the most successful country in the history of the world.
Kite and Key Media has assembled an incredible video summary of the American quarter-millennium, which I’ve likened to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” but without lyrics and spanning the entirety of our history to date. Quibbles aside (including, in my opinion, the exclusion of the 1980 Miracle on Ice), it’s an extraordinary project, condensing America’s exceptional arc down to less than ten minutes. Enjoy:
