President Donald Trump will mark his first domestic trip on Tuesday since the G7 summit of world leaders with a visit to the iconic Mack truck facility in Lehigh Valley, a White House official exclusively told the Washington Examiner on Thursday.
“President Trump will travel to Macungie, Pennsylvania on Tuesday to stand with the American workers he has fought for since Day One. Under the President’s leadership, key domestic industries are being revitalized, historic investments are pouring back into communities like Macungie, and families across the country are securing new, high-paying jobs. Pennsylvanians placed their trust in President Trump, and he has delivered for them,” the White House official said.
In March of 2017, Trump famously climbed into the cab of a Mack truck parked on the lawn of the White House and pretended to drive it ahead of a meeting with trucking CEOs to discuss his healthcare bill proposals.
His visit to Pennsylvania — one of the most important states not just in presidential politics but also in the upcoming midterm elections —makes sense. It’s also where four Democratic challengers in Pennsylvania’s 1st, 8th, and 10th Congressional Districts, as well as the 7th Congressional District in the Lehigh Valley, have been targeted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to take the Democratic Party into the majority.

Trump narrowly lost Lehigh County in 2024, but he convincingly won the state that year over Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
In the fall of 2025, Trump named-dropped Mack trucks in a Truth Social post about the trucking industry and tariffs. “In order to protect our Great Heavy Truck Manufacturers from unfair outside competition, I will be imposing, as of October 1st, 2025, a 25% Tariff on all ‘Heavy (Big!) Trucks’ made in other parts of the World,” adding, “Therefore, our Great Large Truck Company Manufacturers, such as Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Mack Trucks, and others, will be protected from the onslaught of outside interruptions. We need our Truckers to be financially healthy and strong, for many reasons, but above all else, for National Security purposes!”
