Democrats defend Platner’s toxic masculinity because they don’t understand men

.

The inability of Democrats to understand male voters has ironically led to them constantly defending the toxic masculinity of Graham Platner in pursuit of political power.

Platner, of Nazi death camp tattoo fame, has found himself embroiled in yet another scandal. This time, it’s the revelation from his wife that Platner had exchanged sexual messages with multiple other women very shortly after their marriage. Combine this and the Nazi tattoo with the Reddit posts Platner made celebrating the Taliban shooting an American soldier, downplaying the Armenian genocide, and saying that women bore some responsibility for being raped, among other things.

MEET GRAHAM PLATNER: MARINE, OYSTER FARMER, COMMUNIST

Democrats are still defending Platner, which is a rich bit of irony considering how the party and its cultural outfits have prioritized fighting “toxic masculinity” in the most mundane male activities or passions. Platner became the progressive movement’s favorite candidate because he, in theory, appeals to the men that the Democratic Party has alienated for years: “Look at our candidate. He’s a military veteran! He’s a blue-collar oyster farmer! He even has a beard!”

Democrats were seeking out a “Great Male Hope,” and progressive passion helped boost Platner far ahead of Maine Gov. Janet Mills (D-ME) in the Democratic primary to challenge Republican Sen. Susan Collins. Platner has thus become a bit of a sunk cost for the party, no matter what revelations come out about him.

Platner is both a product and a representation of the Democratic Party’s lack of authenticity. Democrats wanted a shortcut to win back men and decided to go the cosmetic route rather than change anything about how the party treats masculine behavior. That led to Platner, whom Democrats are defending despite him being a true example of the toxic masculinity that the party is quick to condemn in less toxic men.

MORE SHOES TO DROP FOR GRAHAM PLATNER?

Platner himself is inauthentic, coming from a privileged, wealthy background that belies his blue-collar presentation. And he has misrepresented his eagerness to join the Iraq War in order to criticize Collins.

Democrats simply do not understand most men, and the result is the promotion of Platner, who represents everything Democrats claim they hate about masculinity and whose conduct is unappealing to most men. Now, Democrats may have just dug a hole too deep in Maine to turn back, meaning they may just keep digging to ensure that Platner’s trainwreck campaign gives them control of the Senate in November.
