Democratic politicians continue to prioritize illegal immigrants over Americans in their policymaking. In Fairfax County, Virginia, one of those politicians may actually face consequences for it.
The Justice Department has opened a civil rights investigation into the office of Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano. Descano is one of the most prolific pro-criminal “prosecutors” in the country, but he has a particular affinity for criminal illegal immigrants. Earlier this year, a Virginia woman was killed allegedly by an illegal immigrant from Sierra Leone, who had been arrested on charges of 40 different crimes over the year, including violent crimes. Descano refused to ever try to keep that man in prison, leaving him free on the street to allegedly stab the woman to death at a bus stop.

That is because Descano wants to protect illegal immigrants from deportation, and so he does his best to ensure that they avoid serious consequences for the crimes they commit in his county. This was actually formalized by Descano back in 2020, when he encouraged “prosecutors” in his office to consider “immigration consequences” when charging and prosecuting crimes against illegal immigrants. Descano was, in effect, ordering his office to give preferential treatment to illegal immigrants over American citizens in prosecuting decisions.

Descano has created a two-tiered justice system, where Americans can and will face tougher penalties than illegal immigrants when charged with the same crime. The Justice Department will be looking to determine whether or not Descano is violating federal laws that bar discrimination based on, among other things, national origin. They likely won’t have to look very hard to make that determination.

It is an indictment of the Democratic Party that this is even necessary. Virginia Democrats have not tried to remove Descano or force his hand when it comes to prosecuting decisions. They have not tried to even exert political pressure on his office, despite preventable death after preventable death being laid at his feet. If anything, Virginia Democrats have embraced Descano’s ideology, with Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) refusing to hand over violent illegal immigrants for deportation.
Descano and Virginia Democrats have created a permission structure for violent illegal immigrants, who know they will be protected by the justice system that Descano has sabotaged by turning his prosecutor’s office into an illegal immigrant protection unit. The discrimination is the point, because Descano would rather keep criminal illegal immigrants in his county than try to protect any of the legal residents in his county.
