Former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Seth Joyner once made a living decimating opponents on the gridiron. Last week, nearly 30 years after his last snap in the NFL, Joyner once again blasted an opponent with reckless abandon. Only this time, it wasn’t an opposing quarterback being sacked by Joyner, it was a Democratic congressman from Philadelphia — Rep. Brendan Boyle. And it wasn’t on a football field, but rather on social media while discussing the necessity for voter ID.
Joyner, who rarely makes political comments on social media, took to his X account to voice his support for voter ID laws. He called such measures “common sense” and expressed confusion about why any politician would be against them. His remarks came after the House passed the Save America Act last week by only five votes — a stunningly low margin that left Joyner dumbfounded.
“I usually stay away from politics, but this is simply common sense!” Joyner said. “Can we as an American citizen go to another country and partake by voting, in said countries elections? You need an ID for everything in life! Am I missing something here??? By 5 votes?? I’d love for someone to explain why a congressman/woman would vote no?”
For a guy who doesn’t comment on politics much, Joyner’s remarks were as flawless as his interception return for a touchdown against the New York Giants in 1992.
It is common sense, and there is no reason why we should not have voter ID during elections. Moreover, Joyner is correct about the many circumstances in life in this country for which we need an ID. It should have been a unanimous decision, or nearly unanimous decision, yet our country’s Democrats are insisting on playing political games. So, it came as little surprise that Boyle interjected, voicing his objections and offering to “explain” to Joyner why the SAVE Act was not prudent. It did not end well for Boyle.
“Hi @sethjoyner – I’m a big Birds fan who grew up watching you play and happy to explain,” Boyle posted on X. “The SAVE Act requires a current passport (which most voters lack and costs $$) or a birth certificate (which some lack access to, and married women would have to get updated) to vote.”
Joyner responded in kind, with all the tenacity of sacking a quarterback on 4th down to win a football game. He stuffed Boyle’s comments before the congressman could engage in the typical left-wing falsehoods and lies being peddled by Democratic members of Congress.
“I’m sorry congressman, citizens have until Nov 3rd 2026, to get a new or updated birth certificate or passport! If their vote means something to them, then get to work to ensure you can register to vote…period!” Joyner said in his post. “Enough excuses! Verifiable citizenship as it is in other countries should a must!”
The second part of his retort was Joyner’s wisest and most important part of his reply. He called out Boyle for efforts to go against voter ID enable nefarious voter behavior. Moreover, he emphasized the need for something our nation’s politicians on both sides have regularly ignored and dismissed — individual responsibility.
WOMEN AREN’T FALLING FOR ANTI-SAVE ACT FEAR CAMPAIGN
“You are for allowing potential voter fraud & interference, for the sake of making things easy on those too lazy to secure what many have died for?” Joyner said. “At what point are people responsible for themselves, respectfully?”
Democrats are losing the narrative on voter ID, and it is essential to keep the pressure on them as they try to keep their deceptive politics at the forefront of their political platforms, agendas, and ambitions. There are no legitimate reasons to oppose voter ID. Whatever fraudulent and phony excuses the Democrats manufacture are just a deflection and distraction away from the truth: They do not want voter ID because it helps them cheat in elections.
You know it. I know it. Boyle knows it. Democrats know it. Seth Joyner knows it.
