The disgraceful attitude that the Left has displayed regarding Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers has become commonplace in our society. So, it should come as no surprise that a Democratic congressman has been overly critical of these law enforcement officers, speaking about them as if they are an enemy force and not American citizens. Even so, sometimes a Democrat will utter something so absurd and ridiculous that it must be addressed and rejected. Consider the recent absurdities uttered by Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL).
“We shouldn’t have masked law enforcement,” Moskowitz said on Fox News’s America Reports on Wednesday. “No one is masked, not our police officers, not our SWAT, not our National Guard, not our military. No one is masked. ICE should not be masked either.”
“I get death threats every single day,” he added. “I don’t get to mask my face.”
Moskowitz may get death threats daily, but has he ever had a Molotov cocktail thrown at him while at work? Has he ever had a sniper fire at him from a rooftop? Has he ever had a disgruntled citizen try to run him over in a vehicle? Has he ever experienced a rabid, left-wing mob causing destruction and other havoc just a few feet in front of him?
Of course, the answer to these questions is thankfully no. Moskowitz said he experienced being the target of someone trying to kill him, but law enforcement thankfully apprehended the assassin-to-be before the plans were carried out. And, as wrong, unjust, and traumatizing as that was for Moskowitz — no politician should ever have to experience such a thing — it was, without a doubt, not the same kind of danger or threat ICE officers encounter on a daily, if not hourly, basis. And, respectfully, it’s entirely disingenuous to infer otherwise.
“No one is masked, not our police officers, not our SWAT, not our National Guard, not our military,” Moskowtiz said. “No one is masked. ICE should not be masked either.”
This, of course, is a vast oversimplification, and is especially true considering there has not been a widespread, coordinated effort by half of Congress to demonize ICE officers.
No one has gone around vilifying police officers, SWAT, the National Guard, or the military as Nazis, fascists, brown shirts, or the gestapo the way the Left has about ICE officers. And, given the long-documented history of the recent dangerous left-wing political violence in the country, there is a perilous threat to ICE officers that does not currently exist for other law enforcement officials.
This is also relevant to Moskowitz’s tragic brush with political violence. He has never faced scores of Republicans vehemently disparaging him and linking him to some of history’s violent aggressors, or had to deal with an angry, violent, riled-up mob, energized and enabled by the inflammatory rhetoric from members of Congress. But ICE officers do. So, while it was undoubtedly wrong that Moskowitz was allegedly a target for an assassination, comparing his circumstance to the plight of law enforcement officers trying to remove violent, criminal illegal immigrants is intellectually disingenuous, if not altogether wrong.
JUDGE DECLINES TO BLOCK ICE ADVANCED NOTICE POLICY FOR CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT
Democrats should be forced to try to exist one week in the shoes of ICE officers in the current political climate before commenting about anything they do, such as wearing masks. The only reason Democrats want ICE officers unmasked is that they want them to suffer retribution for doing their job. They want them to face even more danger and more threats, all because they are enforcing federal immigration law.
The complete disregard for the lives of ICE officers by Democrats should raise flags everywhere. They ignorantly dismiss the challenges, difficulties, and threats they regularly encounter. Their conduct and lack of appreciation are alarming, especially since these officers are primarily tasked with cleaning up the illegal immigration mess that Democrats created. When those kinds of attacks stop happening against ICE officers, then they will stop wearing masks.
