The United Kingdom has institutionalized antisemitism, surrendering to Islamists and activists who are using the threat of mob violence to shape the country.
U.K. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood issued a report saying she has lost confidence in the chief constable of the West Midlands Police after the police fabricated evidence to justify Birmingham banning fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv, an Israeli soccer team, from attending a game in Birmingham. This was done on behalf of antisemitic members of the British government, who stoked outrage over Israeli soccer fans being present in the country.

According to the report, the police used artificial intelligence to conduct their safety review, which led them to conclude that Maccabi fans were a threat because of violence at a game against West Ham in 2023. As it turns out, this game never happened; it was completely fabricated by artificial intelligence and never reviewed by the police. Chief Constable Craig Guildford originally denied that using AI caused that inexcusable error, but has since reversed course and apologized for doing exactly that.
Mahmood said the police “overstated the threat posed by the Maccabi Tel Aviv fans, while understating the risk that was posed to the Israeli fans if they travelled to the area,” and that “the force sought only the evidence to support their desired position to ban the fans.” In other words, British police set out with a goal of banning Israeli fans, made up evidence to support that plan, and painted the Israelis as violent thugs while shrugging off antisemitic violence in the process.

And yet still, the report says there was no antisemitism in this process. Israeli soccer fans were singled out by Palestinian propagandists and banned from attending a soccer game by a police department that the report acknowledges was out to get them in the first place. Those soccer fans were punished by a police department for the imagined crimes of the Israeli government while raving antisemites demanded it be so. That is antisemitism, institutionalized in a police department and excused by the British government, even in a “damning” report about police misconduct.
The U.K. cannot fathom that it is being lied to by Palestinian terrorists and their British supporters, and cannot fathom that antisemitism is running rampant in the country. It has surrendered itself to this hateful ideology and refuses to reckon with that fact, even as it acknowledges the misconduct flowing from it.
