Today is Jan. 6, 2026, the fifth anniversary of the 2021 Capitol riot, an event that Democrats and Never Trumpers love to remind everyone repeatedly that it happened.
Democrats like to use it as an example, ad nauseam, of the dangers of Trump’s powers and the devotion of his followers. But while they regularly cite Jan. 6 as a dark day in the nation’s history due to the carnage at the Capitol, they conspicuously lack the same appetite to offer similar criticism for the much more violent, destructive, and damaging riots of Black Lives Matter and antifa in 2020. And unlike the Capitol riot, which occurred in one city and lasted just several hours, that Democrats like to dwell on, the BLM and antifa riots were nationwide and lasted months.
Yet, those riots, and the violence, carnage, and destruction that resulted from them, still get overlooked by the country’s left-wing politicians. Not only were they ignored, but the organization that fueled the destruction and encouraged the violence was briefly rewarded with its own street in the nation’s capital city, Black Lives Matter Plaza. Well, since Democrats refuse to say it, and neither will their sycophants in academia, yappers on podcasts, politicos on talk shows, legislators in Congress, or influencers on social media, I will: Let’s stop pretending as if Jan. 6 was in any way worse than the 2020 BLM and antifa riots.
Frankly, I am tired of hearing about Jan. 6. I wholeheartedly agree that, regardless of the 2020 election, citizens should not have broken into the Capitol and engaged in physical confrontations with law enforcement officers. However, this incident received significantly more scrutiny than the much more destructive BLM riots. And not only did it receive more scrutiny, but it was actually heralded as some heroic effort that advanced social justice causes — a politically correct term for radical left-wing ideologies predicated on toxic racial preferences.
The participants of Jan. 6 are largely demonized, while the agitators from the BLM riots are primarily celebrated. It’s indicative of the power of the Left’s influence and prestige in this country and how it shapes, or at least used to, cultural narratives without any discernible pushback. It’s unfortunately reflective of the left-wing revisionist history that happens all too often in the country — at least before President Donald Trump’s second term.
Nevertheless, it should be noted, promoted, and widely advanced that the violence and chaos that resulted from the BLM and antifa riots of 2020 were far more destructive than the Jan. 6 riots. The difference is that Jan. 6 did not benefit from the shield of criticism, demonizing, and vilification that was given to the BLM rioters. Such propaganda, false narratives, and historical revisions were a sham when they happened and remain so today.
Decades of radical societal indoctrination led many people to believe that systemic racism against black people is prevalent in the U.S. and is carried out in the nation’s criminal justice system. False claims and media amplifications of black people killed by police officers advanced the notion that unarmed black men are hunted and murdered by police for no other reason than skin color. This narrative was promoted by academia, the media, and cultural figures, despite multiple legitimate statistical analyses and studies debunking such claims.
As a result, the carnage from the BLM riots was categorized as necessary and a needed reckoning, while the Jan. 6 riots remained anathematized. Narratives surrounding Jan. 6 were not afforded the luxury of the public relations campaign and image rehabilitation programs that the BLM riots were. Nonetheless, it’s 2026 now, Trump is the leader of the country, and it’s time to pull back the curtain on the fairy tales, fables, and myths surrounding the BLM riots of 2020.
DEMOCRATS TO RECONVENE HOUSE JAN. 6 COMMITTEE ON FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF CAPITOL RIOT
Today, Democrats are reconvening their show trial committee to rehash the Jan. 6 riot for the umpteenth time. Yet, no such congressional inquiry was extended to the 2020 BLM riots. It’s about time that changed. With Trump holding the presidency and Republicans controlling Congress, some Republicans, one Republican, any Republican, should launch an investigation into the 2020 riots just as the Democrats did into the Capitol riot.
Let’s stop liberals, Democrats, and others on the Left from controlling historical revisions, legislative inquiries, political messaging, and cultural narratives.
