New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani might not be an antisemite. He must just have really bad luck that everyone he surrounds himself with and is now empowering as part of his incoming administration happens to be one.
Mamdani’s director of appointments, Catherine Almonte Da Costa, resigned last week after just one day on the job. This happened after it was revealed that she had old social media posts talking about “Money hungry Jews” and how much she hates police officers. Having this person in charge of recruiting members of your administration is probably a bad idea, so Mamdani accepted her resignation.
PALESTINIAN PROPAGANDA HAS GLOBALIZED THE INTIFADA
But the left-wing Anti-Defamation League has dug through posts from other members of Mamdani’s transition team, discovering posts claiming that “Zionists” are worse than Nazis and that Hamas slaughtering 1,200 civilians on Oct. 7, 2023, is justified “resistance.” Another post depicted the country of Israel as a dog. According to the ADL, four members of Mamdani’s team have ties to antisemite Louis Farrakhan and his Nation of Islam. Farrakhan, if you don’t recall, has described Adolf Hitler as “a very great man.”
Mamdani sees no problem with the antisemitism around him, which he dismisses as nothing more than “criticism of the Israeli government.” That is because, of course, Mamdani is himself an antisemite. Mamdani has opinions about everything that Israel does, which he always opposes, and yet can’t bring himself to say that Hamas should disarm itself, even in a peace deal. When a mob of antisemites swarmed a synagogue and harassed Jews trying to get in, Mamdani defended the antisemites. He defends the phrase “globalize the intifada,” which refers to the First and Second intifadas, in which Palestinian terrorists murdered Jewish civilians.
DEMOCRATS LIVE IN A TWO-STATE SOLUTION FANTASY WORLD
Mamdani defends mobs of antisemites and their chants because he is an antisemite. He singles out Israel, a country he is obsessed with above all others, because he is an antisemite. And he surrounds himself with antisemites because he is an antisemite. It can be intentional through his paid positions, such as the one Da Costa held. It can be “unintentional” through the flock of antisemites drawn to volunteer for his transition team, whom Mamdani is defending from the ADL. Mamdani attracts the support of antisemites and has antisemites in his orbit. It isn’t some weird coincidence that this is happening.
New York is in for a long four years, as Mamdani has plenty of destructive economic policies and safety reforms that he wants to impose. On top of it all, he is a divisive ideologue who zealously defends antisemites and peddles the propaganda pushed out of Gaza by Palestinian terrorists. If you are unable or unwilling to recognize what Mamdani is, that is on you.
