Spanberger pretends she doesn’t understand Title IX

.

In order to justify allowing men in women’s locker rooms and avoid angering the transgender activists who make up the Democratic base, Abigail Spanberger is pretending that it is impossible to know who Title IX protects.

Spanberger’s campaign to become the next governor of Virginia has been dogged by her support of counties such as Fairfax County allowing men (even convicted sex offenders) to use women’s locker rooms to change. Spanberger has tried to keep this issue as far away from herself as possible, first arguing that counties should be able to do what they want and now arguing that this is all the federal government’s fault.

VIRGINIA DEMOCRATS WANT TO BRING RADICALISM BACK TO THE COMMONWEALTH

“The reality is that the federal government has the ability to change the letter of the law,” Spanberger said. “Right now, what we are seeing, there are differences between what is the law of the land under Title IX and what are executive orders put out by the White House.” Spanberger then said there are “conflicting interpretations” of the law and that the federal government needs to pass another law to clarify Title IX.

Here is what Title IX actually says: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” In an executive order, former President Joe Biden declared that Title IX also referred to “gender identity,” leading to the reasoning from Spanberger and other Democrats that this is just all so confusing.

Now ask yourself this: What do you think Congress and then-President Richard Nixon were referring to when Title IX became law in 1972? Do you think anyone ever understood “on the basis of sex” to include men who pretend to be women? What part of this is supposed to be confusing?

TITLE IX LAWSUIT TARGETS FAIRFAX COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS OVER RESTROOM POLICY AND COMPELLED SPEECH

Spanberger has to argue this because there is no alternative argument for her that works. She supports forcing girls to change next to men in recreation center locker rooms because that is what the Democratic Party’s base demands politicians to support. That sounds outrageous to normal people, so Spanberger tries to lose them in the weeds, claiming that federal law is confusing and that her position doesn’t really matter because it is on the federal government to sort it out for local counties.

Democrats desperately want to push transgender ideology in their governance without the unpopular policy decisions being traced back to them. That is what Spanberger is doing here by pretending she doesn’t understand what biological sex is and that a law passed in 1972 allowed for men pretending to be women to invade women-only spaces.
