Byron Donalds stands up to the Left’s pro-crime narrative

.

After President Donald Trump and his allies mobilized a tough-on-crime agenda in Washington, Democratic officials throughout the country described the action as a fascist takeover. However, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) understands that protecting people from crime is not authoritarianism — it’s common sense.

“It’s really important we need to stand up against this fascist takeover — that’s not a bad word,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) said in the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing last week. “It’s a fact.”

THE LEFT RENEWS CALLS TO OBSTRUCT JUSTICE

Her baseless accusation not only labeled the federal initiative to clean up streets from crime as fascist, but also pushed the progressive narrative that being tough on crime is wrong.

“Here in D.C. and across the country, it is so incredibly important, Mr. Chair, that this committee does not allow rhetoric that … paints Washington, D.C., in a way that you all haven’t really truly seen,” she continued.

Donalds, the representative who introduced and led a tough-on-crime bill through the House last week, and an active member of the “fascist” party Tlaib referred to, shared his thoughts with the congresswoman from Michigan.

“I think it’s insane if the gentlelady won’t have an argument, but she’s going to refer to me and some of my colleagues like we were from the Third Reich,” Donalds said, apparently referencing Tlaib’s use of “fascist” to describe Trump’s crime crackdown in Washington.

“Do I look like a member of the Third Reich to you, Ms. Tlaib?” Donalds said. “Is that what I look like to you?”

With no reasonable argument to use as a response, and shocked to see that Donalds does not fit the “fascist” description Tlaib was looking to portray, Tlaib just proceeded to make yet another, and even worse, baseless accusation.

According to Tlaib, Donalds is allowing Trump to commit “crimes,” as the president exercises an “abuse of power.”

Obviously, Tlaib’s accusations lack merit and will only help the actions of true criminals who do not want to face consequences for their actions.

Regardless, despite Tlaib and her colleagues’ remarks, Donalds continues to push anti-crime legislation, as people have entrusted him to do.

On Thursday, Donalds celebrated the passage of his bill, which garnered significant bipartisan support in the House. The DC Crimes Act would allow for the prosecution of young adults who commit crimes as adults instead of minors.

Donalds’s bill is a historic piece of legislation, and it deserves praise. It not only overrides the 1985 law that allowed criminals over 18 to be prosecuted as minors, but it also reiterates the point that personal accountability should be administered to young adults who commit crimes.

Giving criminals, no matter what age, a slap on the wrist could only incentivize them to continue committing crimes without serious consequences, inching them even closer to a life of crime.

Donalds’s bill, however, brings us one step closer to ending the vicious cycle of a life of crime, which ravages communities across the country.

The Florida gubernatorial candidate’s bill also applies pressure to Democrats over their tolerance for crime.

The fact that up until now, an adult under 21 who committed a crime in Washington can still be prosecuted as a minor shows just how tolerant Democratic leadership is toward crime.

Donalds’s legislative efforts will only reinforce the move to make Washington, and ultimately America, safe again.

REPUBLICANS WELCOME LAW ENFORCEMENT, DEMOCRATS CHAMPION CRIME

Not only do his remarks and his bill highlight Democrats’ inability to make an argument and have to resort to personal attacks, but they also emphasize Democrats’ love for crime.

Through tough-on-crime policies, such as Donalds’s DC CRIMES Act, officials can begin saving people from crime, instead of exposing them to it.
