Yes, violent schizophrenics should be ‘locked up’

.

It should not need to be said, but since Democrats at CNN are so outraged at the concept, it must be: Violent people with mental illnesses need to be locked up, in some form or fashion, because mental illness is not an excuse to allow crime.

CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip, on which several liberals yell at and shame a nightly conservative guest, was the home of this debate. Caroline Downey was the unlucky conservative who rightly argued that violent, mentally ill people should be institutionalized or jailed. Phillip, Keith Boykin, and Democratic congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh pulled the “how dare you” card on Downey, implying it was crazy to argue that someone like Decarlos Brown Jr. should be locked up for life and trying to argue that Downey wanted everyone with schizophrenia to be locked up for life.

That was not what Downey argued, and she is absolutely correct. Brown, who has been charged with the murder of Iryna Zarutska on a light rail in Charlotte, North Carolina, had a history of violent criminal acts. He had been arrested 14 times for crimes including armed robbery, assault, breaking and entering, and felony larceny. Brown was a walking public safety risk, and Zarutska would still be alive if he were not free to walk the streets.

This is not a difficult problem to solve. Violent people with 14 prior arrests have proven they cannot function in society. Thus, they do not belong in society. It does not matter if they are schizophrenic or not because being schizophrenic is not an excuse for allowing violent people to commit violence. So, yes, violent schizophrenics should absolutely be “locked up,” whether that be in an institution or in a jail cell. Take your pick on which one, but if they have committed multiple violent crimes, they should not be free to roam in society.

NORTH CAROLINA GOP LAWMAKERS CALL FOR REMOVAL OF JUDGE WHO FREED CHARLOTTE STABBING SUSPECT

We see the consequences of the CNN view of crime and mental illness all the time. Los Angeles released an attempted murderer and put him in a mental health diversion program for two years. He was released with no parole or supervision and immediately went on to murder someone else. Meanwhile, Colorado keeps releasing a “transgender zombie” sex offender without institutionalizing him and will likely release him again shortly after he was arrested for trying to abduct a child from a playground, all because he has been deemed incompetent to stand criminal trial for schizophrenia.

The criminal justice system should not operate based on what offends the sensibilities of the liberals CNN puts on the air. Mentally ill people who commit crimes belong in mental health institutions or jails. We do not need to accept people being randomly murdered on trains or anywhere else just to accommodate violent schizophrenics.
