Whitney Cummings, known for acting, podcasting, and standup, was recently on Bill Maher’s show where she joked that she was anti-animals now. If you know Cummings’s story at all, you would know she is quite active in rehousing needy animals and adopting a ton of pets and convincing her famous friends, like Dr. Andrew Huberman, to do the same.
So, it’s a drastic shift for her to joke about killing coyotes, which is what she did on the HBO show. Cummings shared a story about previously being unfazed by the wild coyotes who would roam her property and posed a risk. She once thought she should be “one” with nature.
Then, the comedian admitted that she changed after having a baby. She became totally fine with killing the feral creatures and turning them into coats and jewelry.
The schtick was clearly for laughs, but it actually speaks to something very applicable and consistent in women throughout the world. When we have an investment in the future through our offspring we become more careful, more engaged, and more … shall we say “mama bear” about issues and decisions than ever before.
Cummings’s worldview, like many women when they become mothers, became less about the importance of the wild animal and more about the importance of a human being — in her case, an adorable toddler boy.
Turns out, you value human life a lot more than your dog (or a wild animal who resembles a dog) once you become a mother.
When you become a mother you realize the importance of parental choices and decisions being something you don’t want the government involved in.
When you go to send your innocent five year old to kindergarten you start to pay attention to the curriculum and skills of the teacher and likely recognize the failures of the public school system and look into private school and then wonder why the teachers’ unions and Democrats make it so dang hard for you to be able to afford a better private option for your child.
When you become a mother, often without paid maternity leave, in addition to the costs of medical bills for the pediatrician you prefer but maybe your insurance doesn’t cover, plus the cost of tuition for that private school you prefer (or the home school curriculum and extracurricular activities), you then start to worry about your inability to move because of increased interest rates or how your Costco and grocery bills for basic household food and needs have gone up exponentially over the past two years due to inflation.
Most of your life as a woman, you’re on edge and at the ready to flee a situation that can range from feeling icky to actually having to run or fight a perpetrator or attacker. When you have a baby, lose a job, or are in a community with no support, you care about security. You see the need for good policing, cleaner and safer streets for all women and their children.
SYDNEY SWEENEY COULD GIVE CONSERVATIVE WOMEN COURAGE
When you start to raise a tween or teen and see the effects of a porous border where drugs are being brought over, or where gang symbols of MS-13 and Tren de Aragua are popping up around your city and on schools and streets in your community, you care and vote to make change.
Mothers are powerful and need to speak up and join other women to address these issues that affect us all. We vote, and we should. Now it’s time to stop voting for the idiotic Democrats who restrict our abilities for growth personally and professionally. And, it’s time for Republicans to see us as a valid tool to make moves to help all women everywhere, whether they’re mothers or not.
