Not all heroes wear capes. However, in Dean Cain’s case, he once did, and the heroic trait of protecting others seems to come naturally to him.
Known for his portrayal as the heroic Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Cain has been in the hero business since the 1990s. Following his run as the Metropolis Marvel, he donned a different uniform to protect people, becoming a reserve officer for the St. Anthony Police Department in Idaho in 2018. In 2025, he has decided to wear a different shield to once again protect innocent people from harm — the shield of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
And this time, it drove Democrats to lose their minds. It was glorious.
“For those who don’t know, I am a sworn law enforcement officer, as well as being a filmmaker,” Cain said in his announcement about joining ICE. “I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it.”
“So, if you want to help save America, ICE is arresting the worst of the worst and removing them from America’s streets. I like that. I voted for that,” Cain said. “They need your help. We need your help, to protect our homeland and our families.”
Hell hath no fury like a Democrat’s scorn for those wanting to protect innocent Americans from violent illegal aliens. Had Cain declared he was pursuing some social justice cause, celebrating “pride month” or an LGBT cause, or announced he was transitioning from Dean to Deanna, the Left would have thrown him a parade. Yet, he was vilified, mocked, and ridiculed because he announced he was protecting citizens from harm.
Democrats are very strange people. Their reaction to Cain joining ICE is just the latest example of that. Consider the temper tantrums and meltdowns by some left-wing entertainers.
Left-wing entertainer John Oliver, host of Last Week Tonight, mocked Cain and ICE for the former Superman actor’s decision to join ICE.
“There’s an old saying in Hollywood: if all you can get is Dean Cain, you are f*****”, Oliver quipped. “I’m not saying that ICE isn’t finding people, just say when you’re reduced to pinning a badge on the 59 year-old star of The Dog Who Saved Christmas, The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation, The Dog Who Saved The Holidays, The Dog Who Saved Halloween, The Dog Who Saved Easter, and, The Dog Who Saved Summer, maybe you are in trouble.”
Yet, with many things Oliver regularly says, he was again wrong and factually incorrect. While insinuating that Cain’s joining ICE was a sign of disinterest, the federal immigration enforcement agency announced it recently received over 100,000 applications.
Next was actor Kevin McHale, of Glee fame, who lambasted Cain’s joining of ICE.
“Look I know the entertainment business is in shambles, but imagine being so out of work and desperate for attention (I would know) that you join ICE?” he said. “F****** pathetic loser.”
He didn’t go on to explain how protecting innocent Americans from ending up like Laken Riley or Rachel Morin was pathetic, but he didn’t have to. For people like McHale, they don’t care about the Rileys or Morins of the world. They ignore those tragedies and choose not to comment about them like they do about Cain. It’s indicative of how toxic and corrosive today’s left-wingers and Democrats are.
Then there was actor John Leguizamo, who, like his left-wing brethren among the Hollywood elite, also criticized Cain. He called him a loser for joining ICE — again, the law enforcement agency that protects Americans from being harmed by the crimes of illegal aliens.
“What kind of loser volunteers to be an ICE officer?” he said in a post on Instagram. “What a moron. Dean Cain, your pronouns are has/been.”

There were other examples, too. It’s rather sickening if you think about it. However, this is your modern-day, anti-American, anti-safety, anti-protecting-innocent-Americans Democratic Party. They think people in ICE who risk their lives to protect others are “losers.”
Again, all Cain did was announce he was joining a law enforcement agency that works to put away murderers, rapists, pedophiles, drug traffickers, human traffickers, abusers, and all other kinds of villainous people in the country illegally who seek to hurt, harm, or kill innocent Americans. Yet, protecting Americans causes Democrats, liberals, and leftists to seethe with rage. It’s disappointing to see their lack of concern for Americans, yet comical to see their irrational and unhinged hatred.
